Those look great. I'd love to hold any of 'em for myself and see how they feel and move. Great work.

Excellent job on those man. I love the look of the wrap on the first one personally, maybe cause its a bit different to what I normally see. +1 for a job well done and keep up the good work!

Dude they totally kill. The blades look great. Definately +1. Was the bronze cast at all or did you just grind it out?
What sword are you referring to in your first post?
SAM: Re. the "4 in - 1 out - 3 in - then into warm oil" - is that just for a clayed blade? I know you & Dan referred to a clayless hamon in an old thread, and a similar in out in out technique. Please spill. Cheers

Thanks Oldschool, I was going to do the battle wrap (katate maki) on one of the longer ones so they'd all be different but it looked silly on such a small blade so I skipped it. Thanks Brenno, I cast the bronze to the rough shape I had in mind with a recessed area that slides over the wood grip. Then I ground them down to final size after I finished shaping the wood. Mm? What swords are you referring to that I'm referring to? That sounds funny. The ones I made hilts for? Hey Darkslyde, I'd be happy to sell you one but I'm guessing by "learned your lesson" you mean "found them to be prohibitively expensive"? If that's the case. I hear ya man. I'd love to able to whip these up fast enough to be able to sell them for $50 each. Maybe we could start up a "barter" category on the forum. I could trade a hand made knife for a good production bare longsword blade.

I had more pics of the blades taking shape (as well as a couple sword blades) but they were lost when my old computer died. Please reference my reference

Ah, ok here they are- This is the only pic I have of them before I finished them. Rough ground and not yet heat treated. A friend of mine brought me a pair very similar that he had made by Baltimore Knife and Steel and wanted me to make the hilt furniture for them out of bronze. I agreed to do it cheaply for him on the condition that I would retain the molds so I could make more if I wanted to. Using the design pics he gave me (they're from a video game) to make the fittings from, I made a pair of blades for myself. They came out smaller and a little different in shape from the BK&S ones but pretty similar.

Yeah Slavia, those are the blades BK&S made for Travis (he showed me that same pic). Mine are a bit smaller than that. His were made for stage combat so they don't have an edge. Not sure if they tempered them. Mine are sharp, hardened and tempered 1075 high carbon steel. Functional but rather blade heavy. I'll start a new thread with pics.
