I've always like the swords from the video game God of War and thought it would be nice to have a set. They only problem is that they are only wall-hanger replicas made and they still want close to $200 for them. I'd considered having someone make a custom set for me but didn't know how practical that would be given the weight of the blades. So I noticed that the Warblades that you can get from KoA looked somewhat similar to the God of War ones. I decided to get a couple and add the chains and such. It ended up being a very cheap project as I got the swords for $15 each, the chains for 16 and the cans of spray paint for $7, so $48 bucks total. Obviously these aren't the greatest swords out there, and I wouldn't use them for anything other than an axe-like chopper, but they still came out fairly well. I did work on the blades edges because they were pretty bad. Trying to get the little curved parts of the blade sharp was a pain; I had to use jewelers files and ended up reshaping it a bit to make a smoother curve. Pictures of the basic blade: I took two ten foot lengths of chain, spray painted them black and then did some silver and more black to give a sort of weathered look. They're nothing special, but it was a cheap, easy and fun way to get some swords that look similar to the God of War ones. All i really need to do now is re-wrap the handles so they will be a bit more comfortable.

Holy metal Batman!
Overall Length: 23 3/4'' Blade: 17 7/8'' Weight: 3 lb 6.2 oz Edge: Slightly Sharp P.O.B.: 6'' Thickness: 8.5 mm Width: 89.5 mm Grip Length: 4 1/2'' Pommel: Threaded
WOW! For the money tho... I mean, they look incredibly fun, and I'd like to disect one of em... btw... the pommel is threaded. Any chance you could pull one of these apart and show us it's guts?
As far as the project goes, I think it's a good alternative to the $200.00 option. For the money, you can't really beat it!

Don't forget about the weight of the chains. Except those will be wrapped loosely around by forearms over some rough black cloth.

I've always wondered about those swords, truth be told, but I never thought much of them given how "fantasy" they look and how cheap they are (about 30$ last time I looked), so I gotta ask, 14; are they really usable as swords?
That aside, I love the ingenuity. It's a great way to get a good replica without paying through the nose for a wallhanger.

You can use them, its just given the weight and balance, its basically more like an axe than a sword.

Those are pretty awesome. If you post a video of cutting bottles swinging them around I will bow to your strength and bravery of the Gods. Idk how youd keep the edge straight in air though. Nice work, I might have to get a few of those.

If I try to cut with them I will end up wearing a stiff pair of vambraces to help keep my wrists straight and hopefully keep edge alignment better. It may sound like a weird comparison, but if you can learn how to keep your wrists straight using a 16lb bowling ball, I imagine you could do the same with these.

This could be really dangerous, but my "adult" opinion aside, it would be absolutely awesome if you cut with them on the chain. Make sure your spartan fury gauge or whatever it is is full first. The vambraces would help I think. How far is the blade going to be out from you on your cuts? The further out the harder I'm sure..
