Probably not even the real thing, maybe just another buzzword like battle ready. Would be intriguing if it was like the CPM stuff though, CPM in the plain carbon steels would be nice to get.

Yes, all the process really does is ensure a finely homogenized steel. Metallurgically it is no different from any other steel of the same grade.
It was originally developed for use in the power industry, I remember when it first came around.

The only real difference between the steel that Hanwei produces for lower end swords, and bugei swords, is quality control. That is just about it. Folding time takes quite awhile too, the wait is pretty long on folded swords.
