Hi Gibbles, Paul just sent me an email with the link to this post. I read your review and would like to extend my deepest apologies for this. You obviously got a "lemon"....We did have some issues in the initial Hattori shipment. As you mentioned, some of the katanas were wrapped with a simulated (basically fake) rayskin. When we noticed this issue, we reduced the prices by 80$, hence the present sale on the few katanas left. We did quick spot checks but apparently there were some in this model that were fake as well, not to mention the dings (which is quite surprising as Hattori really does nice work in his blades)....in any event, I will obviously refund you and really do apologize for this inconvenience. I realize that you're frustrated over the situation and are quite right to be so. This however shouldn't overshadow Paul's / SBG or our own reputation. I think all of you now that both SBG and darksword stands by their customers and the description of the katana was in no way meant to mislead people. It seems like some of the katanas in this model were shipped with real ray skin while others were with simulated/ rubber ray skin. We will correct the description on our website. On another note the sword bag is Japanese silk and the hamon is wire brushed not etched, but this is not important. Since I don't have your email address, I will email Paul the return instructions and he will forward them to you. We will obviously refund your return shipping fees as well as you clearly received a lemon... And again, I am very sorry about this. Eyal Azerad Darksword Armory inc. www.darksword-armory.com

Good deal, DSA. That's how a vendor is supposed to handle a lemon. +1 manned up to the errors found on the product, and understood it was your responsibility to provide a good product and you are refunding shipping costs.
Good stuff have a karma!

I gave the sword bag another look I may have been a little quick with it, due to the weaving in the bag and the way it felt on my fingers going across the pattern I judged it to be fake...
But I have a few items my father brought back from Japan back in the 60's I have a few dolls and a few kimonos with the same type of silk, and it's very close.
I still say it is pretty, and would love to keep it, but it's still just a bag, and I wanted the sword
For this sword I wanted pretty much the same thing my Ronin is but prettier.
Just to be clear, The blade is very pretty, the hammon, even though it's fake does not look bad IMO, and I was aware of the hammon before ordering it. The pictures are not to show the hammon in a negative light or the folding, but the nicks (there is a small one on the back of the blade as well, I should of circled it), the non silk wrap, and the ray skin.

12:24 am........just came back from the "RUSH" concert....still hear the ringing in my ears ..... Thanks Gibbles. I appreciate your response. You can keep the sword bag since you like it. I really don't mind. You can also keep the cleaning kit if you wish. Just pack everything else. Paul will forward you the info. Thanks, Eyal, Darksword Armory inc. www.darksword-armory.com
