I just finished a rough polish on it and thought I would answer a couple of questions and then post some pics. Paul, I just put it back together and haven't had time to take measurements, when I do I will post it. Took just under 3 months to get it. First the super polish is nice, but since they blew through the shinogi in couple of places, I was a little disappointed. The ito seems good, about the same quality as the cheness. When I took of the tsuka, it was nice and tight, with no cracks. It was even sharper than the Kaze. After my repolish, it's even sharper. I got a small cut on my index finger and didn't even notice till a drop of blood fell on the blade. I have a last legend Kumoryu 2000 series non folded made from 1095 that I am repolishing up from 220 grit with stones. When I'm done I'll post pics. I love the big sori, cuts like a monster. Saya kinda sucks, like I said it is loose enough to fall out if inverted. Easy to fix, but not a problem with any of my other katana. So here is my new psuedo-shobu katana, I upgraded the tsuba to the one off my last legend, it's getting a new one.....

The conflicting Hamon looks rough as a badgers ass. What a letdown for what could be a fairly pretty piece.

Most likely he meant yokote which is the line between kissaki ( tip of the sword ) and the rest of the blade. It can be cosmetic ( means there isn't one, it just seems like it is there cause of counter polishing the kissaki ) or a real change in blade geometrics.

Please excuse the ignorance but what is the yakote. Matt It is the line that forms with the switch of geometry that forms from the change from the blade proper to the tip in a "traditional" katana.
