Great review. Your finger and thumb hurt? How are you gripping it? It should be tight with ring and "pinky", neither tight nor loose with middle and the thumb and forefinger should hardly be holding it for optimum power!

Is that sword differentially tempered?
I heard you can't flex differentially tempered swords, which may explain why yours doesnt flex. My reasoning is that one of my dear friends owns a cold steel warrior series kat, which has a SEVERLY thick and heavy blade. It is not differentially tempered, and it flexes beautifully.
What dyou reckon?

It's not differentially tempered. On a side note, you should never flex a differentially tempered sword, because it'll take a set, because the back is soft to absorb shock.

Lol. Are you saying that in addition to this free sword, you want to get a gift voucher for the review... Well, nice try! But technically your name (or name and initial) is not at the top of the review, so until that is changed... Sorry, it doesn't qualify... Bringing this back to attention for another post Actually Paul, sorry to come off like that. I was bringing this post back to attention for that thread where I mentioned I'd reviewed the tenchi ko and highly recommended it. I was completely joking when I asked about the gift certificate on that thread Still, I hope this review gets added to the main page! (added my name, btw). If you decide to add this review, that means you'll need to add my review on the ritter, the witham, and this one

Hey Rammers, just ribbin' ya. I will indeed be adding this review to SBG, along with the Witham and the Albion (yup, I'll be allowing a few higher end reviews to sneak in from time to time to keep the balance). Got a fair bit of work ahead of me actually, lots of forum reviews to add - plus I have 4-5 swords that have recently come in that I plan to do some testing on over the next week or so. We could say that September will be the month of reviews (and birthdays!) Cheers mate, - Paul

...something that did strike me is that the kissaki seems to have a more grainy texture to it than the rest of the sword. I also have noticed this about the two Cheness swords I own -- the Shura and Delux Iaito. It's harder to tell from photographs, but when one turns the sword just right, it's clear that filework has formed the kissake and the file marks have not been polished to a degree that pleases me. This is my biggest point of dissastifaction with the Cheness swords. Do similarly priced Hanwei swords (Practical series and slightly more expensive Practical Plus) suffer from this same unsightly kissaki finishing? Do swords from Musashi, in the $50-$150 price range show the same working? What about the spate of $200 Musashi swords?

My Musashi Zetsurin, which cost me $69 actually has a nicer kissaki then my Shura, which surprised me a little. My Oni forge Kage katana also has a nice kissaki, but not as nice as the Musashi. I don't know if I got lucky or what, but I would definitely buy from musashi again.

Lol. Are you saying that in addition to this free sword, you want to get a gift voucher for the review... LOL! I think Stein should go into law rather than history. He has the makings of a superb attorney... ;D (just adding to Paul's friendly ribbing, stein )
