justinroland: "Yikes Mike,
Great review, did it come that sharp or did you have to sharpen it? It looked like very little effort was needed for it to cut the 20 oz. " Justin, It came pretty darned sharp. The cuts in the first part of the video, upto and including the swordfodder target, were straight out of the box. I may have touched up the edge before the later cuts. I can't remember for sure, as I've been sharpening a lot of blades lately. brenno, The weight I listed above is the reading from my fish scales on this sword. I have noticed that Gen2 swords sometimes vary in weight a little from one to another. There are pictures of Gennie, my first 12th Century Norman, in the original Shooting Swords thread, down close to the bottom. There isn't a good closeup of the hilt, but there is a good closeup of the tip. You can tell how much of the blade that's been removed by comparing the distance from the end of the fuller to the tip. Hope that helps a bit.

Oh, and shortening the blade completely changes the way it handles. It speeds the sword up to an incredible degree. Trueswordsman will second that too. He shortened a Crusader sword. He had a lot of nice things to say about the drastic improvement in handling as well.

I now see why you ordered a new 12thC. Poor Gennie. Keep us posted on your customisation of G2 (Gennie the second).

Clyde or Trueswordsman, just a question: Cylde said that they wouln't start making these new tapered grip models until the old version had sold out. Did this turn out to be the case? In other words, if I buy another one, whether direct from Imperial or from AoV, would I definitely get one of these new ones?
Thanks.

Yes, all old versions sold out and all new versions have been coming in. We are expecting another shipment late this month or early July.
