The poor sky never stood a chance. It is still scarred from its near brush with death. If only I could reach farther up, you'd have a dying sky fall down upon the world

...rammstien stated that his sword "was not paper sharp" aren't gen 2 swords supposed to be razor sharp? after all, I doubt that in paul's review of the wasp waisted gladius, he(or anyone) could have cut dry bamboo, had the sword not been razor sharp... Hobomurai, The term "razor sharp sword" is kind of used generically in the sword business to mean "a pretty darn sharp sword." It doesn't usually mean actually as sharp as a razor, as that kind of edge would be extremely fragile on a sword. Terms that are actually more specific would be: Shaving sharp: which means the edge will actually lift hair cleanly like a well sharpened knife. Usually not a good sword edge as it is fragile. Paper sharp: won't lift hair but will cleanly slice standard printer paper. That's just about at sharp as a western blade can be without being very fragile. This is how I like my cutting swords. Sword sharp: won't cut paper but is still plenty sharp enough to be a good cutting sword. Below that would be just "kinda sharp"? In my experience, Gen2 and Angus Trim swords, along with some Albion swords come with an edge that is "sword sharp" with a few spots on the blade that are even "paper sharp" though just barely. To my mind that is probably the perfect all-around western sword edge. Paul Chen/Hanwei western swords come somewhere between "sword sharp" and "kinda sharp", at least mine did. Anyone is welcome to disagree or dispute that. Those are just my opinions based on my limited observation.

UPDATE
Sword is still just as strong as ever, however, I'm afraid that my opinion of the handling has gone down a bit. This sword can be a major wrist breaker for someone not used to the heft. My ritter is quite a bit more agile in the hand and has more blade presence as I found in recent dry handling. I just can't help feeling that the witham feels a bit dead in the hand. Sorry, I'm going to have to lower the handling score by one.
Still a great sword, and I stand by all that I said before.

Mate, thats cool. Don't be afraid to speak your mind. Better to be brutally honest, no appology necessary. +1 Karma to encourage more critical reviewmanship.

Hey Rammstein,
I believe one of your (and my) initial complaints about this sword was that the blade is flattened diamond in cross section instead of lenticular (as would be historically correct). I corrected this in mine, visually at least, by filing the portion of the blade between the fuller and the tip into a lenticular shape. Then it was re-polished. It may be my imagination, but it seems to be just a slight bit more lively now. When I get the polishing just right I'll add an update photo of the tip to my own review of this sword.

Yet another great review on the Gen2 Witham River Viking Sword. Now I want this sword even more than I wanted it after reading ShooterMike's review. I think I figured out the karma thing, but I don't know how to award it to you know, Rammstein. It's showing you as just a guest, and I don't see an "Exalt" button.

I've actually been coming here for a few weeks, but I decided to join, because I'd like to contribute what I can. There's plenty of swords I've seen that I don't see any reviews for yet, so I actually plan on doing one or two soon. I'll stop by the new members board real quick though, so you guys can get to know me a bit. My post might be a bit long though. ^_^'
