I wouldn't sweat that, Bushido. If other peoples opinion's offend me, I'm not secure in my own. I was drawn to the simple solid contruction of the thing. I have sharpened mine to a decent enough edge and have got to where I can make a silent cut on a bottle with it. But it is cumbersome to use and the grip is too smooth to keep a good hold on. Ritter Steel in general are heavy and ugly to me, tho I'd still like to get their Celtic sword if the price was right.

Hanwei Practical Hand and a Half, just a useless sword, grips too short which wouldnt be so bad if the hollow pommel wasn't so damned big and awkward, cross guard is way too short to be decently effective, rattly as hell (yes I know it's happens with live steel blades but there is so much slop in the gross guard and grip, it just amplifies it.) Just plain ugly to look at. I SO glad they came out with the "Bastard" sword in the practical line....havn't bought one yet but I handled my friends and I love my sharp version (after the standard grip/ricasso modifications)

Hmmm...well, Ive handled some clunkers...back in the late 1980's there was some unkown company producing some truly awful SLO's with unheat-treated blades, big blocky cast brass hilt components. I think they were out of Pakistan. Truly horrible....

At MRL's showroom one time when I was there they had a rack of Cold Steel Katanas. I handled one and felt like I was handling a long, heavy plow blade or something. Beautiful and well made, but way too heavy for me. Weilding that heavy thing someone with a lighter, quicker blade would be all inside your ddefense whily you were trying to wield that heavy thing. Hm, I guess it would be my old DSA Squire Sword. Heavy thing, no distal taper to speak of, oversized cross, weird balance, taxing on the arms and clumsy in general.
Unscewing the pommel actually improved the handling. When I discovered that, I began suspecting something was seriously amiss.
