The Zetsurin does not have the secondary bevel. It shares the same blade as the Shirasaya's and the Charcoal Tsuba series.

How can I tell which swords are in the charcoal tsuba series? Any distinctive markings?

Ah, duh, the link at the top of the page Let me see if I have this right: The charcoal tsuba and shirasaya series have the same blades, with a primary bevel only. The tokusen have the logo on the blade and have a secondary bevel. Are those the differences between the series $50-$149? Let me know if I have it right.

just a question, is the tsukaito cotton or silk? and doesn't it discolor or blemish quickly? thanks

Pretty sure mine's cotton, and a multitude of shades now ranging from the original white to a nice grayish-black, so yes, beware of dirty hands and discoloration.

I see... Because I was eyeing the Cheness O-Katana and I want it customized to resemble Vergil's Yamato (from Devil may cry 3) and that one has a white tsukaito..

1) keep your hands clean 2) don't sweat 3) wear gloves 4) be prepared to bleach your ito weekly, if necessary re-wrap the blasted thing each time. I really can't think of any way to keep a white ito white. Who's idea was this, anyway? Still, white on black is so nice...

Yep, white cotton. They're cheap enough, why not get one for cuttin' and one for hangin'? ;D Seriously, I was freaked about getting mine dirty initially, but meh...I bought it to use, so what the heck.

I'm in the same line as kriegschwert. Probably going to buy a second Zetsurin just for the "Ooh, pretty sword~" factor. This one I may just destroy utterly for the sheer sake of finding out what it takes.
Or not.

That would be interesting, to see exactly how much abuse a bargain katana like this could take. Paul should do another destruction test with a low-cost musashi, like he did with the maximillian

Thanks so much, kriegschwert, for the review. Ultimately, after reading it, I finally ordered one of my own. I think I'm going to order a separate one for show, and the other for a bit of light cutting as well...

Well, my Zetsurin came arrived earlier today... erm, I guess yesterday. Time to test this little blade out. The next one I order here shortly in a few days will be for show only I suppose.
