I am not a trekie. Well, I have been eying the Klingon Batlh 'etlh from that catalog I saw up at Stillman Blades, and there are several really cool Klingon knives, and if I could find one of good tempered steel I might fork over the money for it... Ok, Maybe I'm a trekie.

Well, my mats finally arrived, so there will be some cutting, Just not with a Klingon Bath' leth. As soon as I get a round tuit I'll take those videos of me cutting that I promised, and you'll all see that I can out cut* even the masters.
-John
*in this instance, the words 'out cut' may or may not refer to the cutting mats, fingers, or sections of post or lawn that may or may not be purposfully or accidently in the general vicinity of a long, sharp shiny object swung by a rank amature with delusions of grandure.

Guys check out the katanas and please comment on them . They look great. This may be a best kept cheap secret!!! www.fantasy-blade.com/1465779.htmli bought the lu-011 from swordsofmight.com a while back and i would have to say i do not recommend buying one. i couldn't remove the tsuka (even with a rubber mallet and lots of kinetic persuasion), the blade seems thin, the hamon is a poorly done wire brush, and the blade's edge is a secondary bevel, not a true tapered and polished edge. i bought this sword as the "Masahiro Elite Fuji" and i think paul used to sell them at the sbg store but eventually stopped because they were more wall-hangers than safe cutters. though i never had a chance to try to cut anything more than a sheet of paper (rather unsuccessfully because the edge wasn't too keen) the tsuba is bent and the ito is coming undone from my attempts to remove the tsuka. if you're looking for a nice display sword then these might be ok but if you're looking for something that is a little more comparable to traditional japanese swords i would recommend the masahiro bamboo. cheap, sharp, and solid. hope this helps.

As you said, "they look great", but that would be about it !At first I thought they may be Iaito, they do have stand out koshirae, however this can also sound alarm bells that the Quality of the blade may be, for want of a better word, shite . They may be worth it as a wall-hanger, for about half of their asking price ! The words 'Carbon steel blade' can be very, very generalized nowadays, so Unless they say of its forging, assume it is not at the high end of the cutting blade range.!Just my two cents.
