I usually don't trust such makers to make good swords. Their swords look cool and the way they're built seems fine too but I bet they perform pretty much like overbuilt machetes. Don't think they ever use distal taper, have an eye for harmonic balance, etc. Their weight also is very high for the size of their blades. They might be very tough and pack a punch but before I see any tatami cutting (I know there's one vid on YouTube where a guy does that but his lack of skill makes it impossible to properly judge the sword) and see someone experienced with real, good quality swords say that they handle fine, I'd rather not trust my life to one of them should the need ever arise.

I've been looking at those zombietools blades for a while. On the FAQ section it says that they do pay attention to balance, temper, materials and give their blades a distal taper. I think they look pretty good for a zombie situation, and a lot of their swords look like decent cutter, or maybe more choppers than cutters. I'd like to see a good test of them too. -edit- Found these videos on their youtube
-DISCLAIMER- the first video may be disturbing to some viewers. Viewer discretion is advised.

Yeah but it's fun!!!! They didn't seem that drunk to me, I don't think it was too unsafe. I really wished they would have shown close ups of the edge after chopping up the cow skull ("Earl the zombie cow", lol). Such a skull is a pretty darn hard target and if the blade made it without edge damage, that's a good sign. Of course depends on the degree of sharpness, too. The beer bottle cutting was pretty cool aswell, if one can cut 24 metal cans in one swing the edge geometry can't be that bad I reckon. But certainly the best way to find out how good these things are is to buy one and match it against plastic bottles and tatami.

You should put a disclaimer on that first video as it could be upsetting for some viewers

Just don't think you should be doing any kind of drinking, not even one if you are using something which could kill you or some one else. It's always saftery first.

I agree with that, but I think they drank all those earlier if that's what your implying.

One part of the video shows them with beers in hand, they even say something to the fact of a good day drinking and cutting

Yeah distal tapers helps alot but if the edge is VERY well done a lack of distal isnt everything, just dont expect brilliant manuveurability.
I'll just say it ....... Cold Steel Ghurka Khukuri SK-5 with kydex sheath ........ handled one on the weekend and yeah ..... DO WANT!!!! ....... If you had to take one to the apocalypse would put my money on that one. Pity they dont black coat the blades like they used too. Duracoat would be good but people only do cerakote or teflon around australia.

zombie tools are ultra tough, but their edges are just plain bad, if you have a grinder they are good swords, it is not that they can't hold a sharp edge. but more that the makers chose for durability rather than easy target cutting, zombie's dont have waterbottle armor but they have bones, zo the swords are designed with that in mind.

I found that video showing that tameshigiri with a zombie tools. Inconclusive I think. He doesn't know how to cut.
I found another one with another guy cutting a bottle. Much better. Note that in the video below the apokatana model is used, where the discontinued harvester is used above.

made a zombie slayer lately, i finally finished it. this grip may look wierd but i tried it on an wooden sword myself and actually gives great hand protection, and endless grip possibilities, as we all know there is no point in stabbing zombies, so this sword is designed as the best cutter available, while still being able to perform in small spaces. also has companion dagger with knuckle duster and saw back. maybe you are wondering what the thingy on the end is, well it is an inbuild sharpener.

Hmmm, looks good there! sheath seems like it'd be a bit bulky though.
