greybeard, I'm not really an expert or something like that on georgian khanjali, but I'll try to answer your questions. the studs are decorative pieces of the pins that retain the blade and the handle scales together. they are historical and sometimes they are annoying. but keep in mind that khanjali are secondary weapons. they were used along with longsword. also khanjali is a part of national dress chokha : this is the sword that was used primarily in the battle: this is the amunition of old georgian warrior: about the decorative side of the khanjali, well Georgians love pretty things and everyone tried to decorate their weapons in any way they could. wealthy people used gold and silver inserts in the handle, scabbard and even in the blade along with very detailed engraving.... not so wealthy people also decorated tehier weapons but with less pricy materials. hope I answered your questions....

Hmm... interesting info. I don't suppose that windlass really thought that people would look for historical accuracy in a bargain blade, but if it pleases, I'll just cord wrap the handle and start calling it a modern gladius instead of a Georgian blade XD
Yeah, that's kinda why I bought it... potential tac-gladius
