Another ValiantCo product reviewed by me, let's dive right in !
Introduction, first impressions
I bought this blade in the same transaction that gave me my Survival Golok XXL. I wanted a smaller, lighter backyard cutting companion to my Golok. First impression was love at first sight, I really liked how easily the grip fell into my hand and how fast and strong the Rawit seemed to be in the cut, more on that later ...
Shipping was relatively quick, well-priced and customer service was very quick and courteous. (for more details, see my Valiantco Survival Golok XXL review)
Statistics :
Overall lenght : 16 1/2 ''
Blade lenght : 11 1/2 ''
Grip lenght : 5''
Blade thickness : 3/8 ''
Weight : 350 g (from Valiantco's website)
Components
The blade starts small (but thick) at the handguard then swells, coming with a nice, curved belly that than ends with an acute point. The blade came paper-cutting sharp and easily cut many plastic bottles right out of the box. Althought the back of the blade is straight, the shape of the handle makes the blade go forward when holding this weapon.
The grip is made of buffalo horn, like my survival golok. It is a black, slick material with a few pale streaks, very good looking. It also offers a very good grip, keeping the Rawit secure in hand and making cuts very easy and natural.
It has no handguard, but the curvature of the handle make jabs possible, keeping the hand on the handle and away from the edge.
The pommel is circular and flares at the end of the handle, it contributes nicely to the ergonomic of the Rawit.
The scabbard is made of a light-brown wood. Unlike the survival golok's scabbard, it holds the Rawit in place when held upside-dwon (although it will come out if you lightly shake the scabbard...). It looks good but offers little beside short term storage.
Handling
The Rawit shines when it comes to handling. It's small size and light weight makes cuts, swings, jabs very quick and natural. Also, the shape of the blade and the ergonomics of its handle make cuts and swings quite strong for such a small-sized weapon.
Cutting
I had lots of fun cutting with this weapon. It easily cut open all targets I used it on (only plastic bottles of many different sizes, so far). Here is a clip I have made which shows what this blade can do, hope you will enjoy it.
Conclusion
Pros
-Fun, sharp backyard cutter
-Quick, easy to use handling
-Simple, good-looking fittings
Cons
-Scabbard almsot useless
-Currently sold out
Overall, this is a great blade, I am very happy to have it, if you liked this review and you find this blade on the net, get it !
