We went to the midnight showing last night. Go see it. If you liked Gladiator and Kingdom of Heaven, you'll love it. It has it's share of ahistorical mistakes, but it's still a great film.
Keep in mind, this is the background story of Robin Hood BEFORE he was Robin Hood, as a yeoman archer returning from the Crusades.
It sets up very nicely for a sequel...

If it was just Gladiator with a Robin Hood skin on it, I'll probably go see it twice.

Yeah, I have not seen it yet, but very excited about it. Windlass is doing some officially licensed products from the film. I did put some of them up on Imperial Weapons. I still need to add more... www.imperialweapons.com/category/RH.htmlI think the price is a bit high for the scabbard and belt, but have not seen the quality yet. Maybe it is really good......

It has nothing to do with Robin Hood, other than a vague similarity and some names, but enjoy it anyway for what it is.

Enjoyed it quite a bit. Really nice looking film with good performances and exciting action sequences. Would be interested if a sequel were made by the same folks. Overall a satisfying revision of the Robin Hood legend.

Cool! Great to hear this came out well. Like there was any doubt, afterall this is what Ridley Scott and Russell Crowe do well. I can't wait to see it.

I don't want to see a two hour commercial for the next movie, I want the story of Robin Hood. Why does everything in Hollywood have to be a franchise these days?

I got to see a pre screening of it a week ago and being a fan of all things Robin Hood was really excited. I enjoyed it very much, however it is not the lighthearted steal from the rich give to the poor adventure romp that is usually associated with Robin Hood. The feeling is more like Braveheart than other Hood movies. Of course with the people involved I knew it would be a good show however they portrayed it. I thought it was an interesting take to develop more how he became an outlaw and also placing his adventures slightly later. All in all I recommend it.

I always refer to what a theatre major told me once- movies and plays are someone's interpretation of a particular story or events. I have come to accept movies as pure entertainment and leave the history for another medium.
Thought it was really good. Sloppy (realistic, good) fights at times, good use of terrain, weapons weren't crazy or new looking. Loved the side characters. Worth the money at least. Wife liked it too so added bonus.

My sister and her fiance went and saw it a few days ago, and even SHE loved it! I was astonished, really... Now I have to see it, lol. She said it was extremely gory, which is always good in my book, so.... Sign me up. -Slayer

I enjoyed the movie very much. It's nice to see a film like this every now and then. True, it isn't Robin Hood as far as the rob from the rich, give to the poor deal goes. It's Robin Hood as we haven't seen him before, after returning from the crusades, but before turning into a bandit. I had a Robin Hood book a long time ago filled with his adventures when I was a kid, and not every single one involved him hiding in the bushes, waiting to ambush a royal coach.
What I felt was very Robin Hood-ish was the hiding in disguises, being confronted by noblemen and kings and having to feign his way through, how did everyone miss THAT aspect of the Robin Hood legend?
In the end, I feel it is far more watchable than Kingdom of Heaven was. I loved KoH and Gladiator, but it was nice not having a large musical interlude and 5 minutes of location establishment at the end of every dialogue scene. it also wasn't preachy like KoH was, which irked me somewhat.

Saw it last night.
SEE IT. No 'if's 'and's or 'but's. It was stone-cold badass. See it!! It was one helluva good time.
The only real gripe I have with it was that it shouldn't have been called "Robin Hood." It's an AWESOME movie, but "Robin Hood" it is not. Don't try to BS me with "origin story" this or "as we haven't seen him before" that: this ain't Robin Hood, this is "Kingdom of Heaven 2." Telling the pre-Robin Hood story is fine, and really freakin' cool, but don't trick me by calling the movie "Robin Hood." If I don't see any mythical skills with a bow or hiding out in Sherwood forest until the last five minutes of the entire movie, you can't call it just "Robin Hood."
"Nottingham" maybe. "Robin" maybe. "Rise of a Legend." Something that lets us know that we're getting a movie involving Robin Hood, but not a Robin Hood movie. I liked what I got, but I didn't get Robin Hood.
Like I said though, it was freaking awesome. I highly recommend it. I just feel it was mislabeled.

(Yea, I think "Nottingham" would have been the best title. That would look great on a billboard and tell you all you need to know going in. The NEXT movie should be called "Robin Hood." Yep.)

Hm... I usually don't go see movies myself. I only hit the theaters with my friends.
The "Nottingham" title does sound like a better idea, but then people wouldn't all go "IT'S ROBIN HOOD, OMG, LET'S GO SEE IT", I think.
