After some thought i totally agreee, this blade should have a type XVIII blade, Sonny should really consider this for the next batch.

This is such an amazing sword! Absolutely beautiful. I am torn on owning this sword based on my desire to own swords that are historically accurate/based. Could it have existed in medieval Europe? I do like the thought that it could be an older blade with updated fittings, but I would like to see original examples of that if anyone knows of any that exist.

Here is a XIIIa with late 15th/early 16th century fittings. And it's not even a rehilted old blade but part of a revival of old style cutting blades in the late 15th century and through 16th century when people started to wear less and less plate armor because of the high price and tactics where a lot of pike and shot infantry proved more and more effective. Especially full plate was rare. Except for the elite minority of course. www.myarmoury.com/view.html?features/pic_spotxiii11.jpg

So the Malatesta could have existed....thank you for the information. That sword you posted is very similar to the Windlass Erbach. www.imperialweapons.com/WS/501058.htmlEdit: The hilt is anyway, the blades are very different.

Yeah the type XIII and variants had a second wind of being in style. The XIIIs they made were lighter and balanced closer to the hilt then the earlier examples you see.

Yes, and Malatesta is balanced exactly like that.

My Malatesta should be here in a couple of weeks. Bought it from the Christian Fletcher site as SBG was out of them.
