I'm looking to buy my first sword, and while I was looking around I came across Dynasty Forge, and these Euro Swords www.dynastyforge.com/index.php/European-Arms/View-all-products.htmlI think all three of these swords are beautiful. But idk about these swords, does anyone know any information about them? about the forge? Also, what is the difference between these swords? I have looked around for a guide on the various types, but with no luck. Does anyone know of a guide explaining the different types of swords?

Dewskerz,
I think that you will find that we are ALL waiting to find out more about these swords from DF. The Euro swords are brand new to the market and untried as of yet. Dynasty forge has a good reputation for their work, but that is all based on their work in eastern type blades, not western.
As far as what the different types of western swords are and a guide to them, what you need to google is "Oakeshott typology" This will explain the differences to you between western sword types and forms.
Marc at Wiwingti sword supply will be more than helpful with any questions that you may have about the DF products, he is a super guy to deal with.

DF blades have been nice and the fitting are decent. There has been reports that they have downgraded the wood they use and some people have had issues with it. The euro stuff is a wait and see...however, you can pretty much ignore the typology with these are these swords don´t follow the typology anyways.

This will cover most of the sword typography. Just tab on to the type X check it out, back key and go to the next and so on. This will give you a quick understanding of some of the Europeon sword types. As has been previously stated the DF Europeon swords are brand new and havn't been review yet. If in doubt wait about 2-4 weeks and someone should do a review in that time. www.myarmoury.com/features.html

If you ask me, they are fairly pretty, but something about the proportions strike me as a bit... off, somehow.

On the picture below, the sword on the left is original, the one on the right I increased the size of the pommel. I feel this makes the sword look more balanced. I do like them though. -gaffer My project pages yeoldegaffers.com/project.asp

i handled it a bit and loved it,, i will buy one for sure.
i've asked the winner of the XVI before shipping it to him, if i can try it,, and if he say yes, i will try it and make a bit more review.
i can assure you one thing , it looks very solid, and is already sharpened.

a few details here of the XVI

Wows such quick replies, it makes me feel like i have been gone for a while... Very informative, thank you very much for all the information wiwingti, chucklingohio, and demonskull. I do really like the XVI, but I think, for my mental preferance (none physical, yet, lol) I'd get along with the type XVIIIa more, due to the longer handle, but the XI is the prettiest. I think I'd settle in the middle and get the XVI if I get a DF. Thanks again for all the help guys, Karma has been given where I feel due

i have used it cutting bottles and have been no kinkon the blade, no scratches but, only thing, my video seems to appeer like laging, but on the video it do not lag at all. i will find out why and post the video. the blade look like never been used, so,, it is solid, very solid no used to euro swords and i see that it is a new way to cut, but it was fun. Gives me the same concerns I've had about DSA - that they might be trying to regulate the weight and POB position without quite understanding the mass distribution involved. Over-all, I'm suspicious about swords were the guard looks like it weighs more then the pommel.
