Lol! Yeah, one day I must have a sword done by Christian Fletcher. Too beautiful, they are. Beware of the dark side, you must.

I think we run into trouble when we start with "magical thinking"; "If I only buy THIS sword, I'll be happy and my life will be better" And then we buy that sword and we're the same person with the same life as before. "OK,' we think, 'THIS sword, this must be the one that will do it..." That, to me, is the point at which any hobby becomes obsessive and loses its fun. The thing to remember is the bills still have to be paid, the boss is still going to be a jerk, that neighbor who wakes you up every Sunday morning mowing his lawn at seven thirty is still going to be there. That wonderful new sword isn't going to change that and you'll still dwell here on earth with the rest of us. If you ever start feeling disappointed that life just goes on after a major sword purchase than maybe you have a problem. That's my two cents, anyway, and about what it's worth.

Rauta,Love?Obession?Addiction?Heavy words-but if my wife was reading this she would say it discribes me.From my youth I have wanted a sword,I bought some real crap over the years but have slowly come to realize quality over quantity and limited to my budget.I would like to own one sword of each catagory.Since I took up cutting"batting out of the yard" my wife calls it-I also want live blades. If you can afford the hobby,go for it,your not hurting anyone-right!Well,I gotta go-my Swordaholics meeting starts in 20 mins.Ebon-evil temptster-thou evil link has slowed me down.

It isn't until you build a concrete bunker under your house or farm with biometric recognition locks and mathematical algorithmical ciphers to keep all your swords (or in this case guns) safe and away from prying eyes and sticky fingers. My ex's uncle had exactly this because he had that many guns. Although if we are talking about a house full of swords, lets just ask shootermike

only 80? Wow, where you been mate? I lowballed it a little, ShooterMike seems like a pretty modest guy, I figured he might not like people openly talking about the full extent of his awesome powers.

House full of swords? Check back with me in a few years I'm well on the way, although medical problems have put a halt to getting new swords, I have not got a new blade since my Tinker Great Sword of War, except an interesting Fiskar hook bladed machete I saw at Wal-Mart and couldn't resist ;D Now and then I entertain the idea of taking some of my wall-hangers and other not-so-good swords and unloading them at a pawn shop for whatever I can get for them, and chalking up the lost money as a life lesson If I got enough, maybe I could buy one good blade. I fear though, that now the SBG Fantasy sword will forever be out of my reach

rauta I like the fact that you enjoy the sword because of the link to the past and make you feel connect with your ancestor but make sure you don't abandon your friends and spend all your money on swords 'cause that will turn positive healthy hobby into negative unhealhy obession . My personal sword quest a few years back was to obtain real modern replica of sword that my ancestors used to defend our land and our freedom for thousand of years but it was a struggle to find such sample because there are hundred upon hundred of tourist blade and fake one floating around and the antique one cost more than I could afford .So my quest stray a bit in to foreign design such as Chinese, Japanese, Germany ,Roman ,Nepal ,Persia, India,Philippine etc and some were enemy in the past some were allied but all of them give me opportunity to learn different blade type and combat application and culture (the fun part was research the history , fact and tidbit about the particular sword ) .
keep your obsession check , chanel your passion through the research and learning about particular sword but restrain from getting every sample and type 'cause you will be so broke
