Hey guys, Sorta wandered over here from the Japanese section. Recently I came across this sword on a vendor's site known mostly for japanese blades. Looks Chinese to me in style, but I have no idea what it is and it has a lot of painting(?) on it. Just thought I'd ask the Brain Trust. www.kaneiesword.cn/?product-87.html

Yeah, I've never seen anyone else put that much makeup on one before. I don't have a clue whether or not it's based in historical context or not. I have a feeling no.

Looks like a jian to me, too. It's very pretty, but probably worthless...

How's that? I'm so out of my element in the Chinese stuff The japanese blades this company puts out are very competitive.

It's a very tacky jian like object.
The blade has MULTIPLE sets of 'seven stars' brass dots in numerous configurations...antiques usually only had one set.
The fittings are modern garbage.

I'm w/ you; personally I think it looks like the barbie version of a real sword - just bothering me I hadn't seen a single thing like it previously
