I think what you offer is good advice and those learning would do well to listen to it. (ahem....meaning you most Sparky. ;D) Oh yeah! ;D I'm all over it!

Ah, I bought one of these myself about a year or so ago. I really loved it. I have fairly large hands, but even for me that haft is just a little too big. I actually like the brass studs too, and I loved how sharp it came. I had gotten Hanwei's Celtic sword too, and this axe is sharper than that thing. Also, fairly recently, Mike (who also posted in this thread) and I took this axe out for some water bottle cutting. I had no problems getting good cuts with it.
Unfortunately, however, while I was off at work one day, my brother had some friends over, and they brought a couple of their friends too. Well...one of them decided to take my axe outside, and somehow managed to BREAK the damn thing! I was so pissed! And they put it back in my room without saying anything, like they thought I wouldn't notice! I don't know what they did to it, but the steel wedge at the top of the haft was missing completely, and one of the rivets were ripped out of the haft, leaving the wood splintered. Fortunately, the head is still salvageable, so I'll make it into a project once I get my forge set up when I move to Georgia.

Dude! When you picked up the big ol' lexan bottle I was saying "no... he isn't really going to.... Yup, he did. There's an axe stuck in that bottle. Sweet". Mad props for that, that was really cool.

Brendan and others said it before I could. Reminds me of the He-Man Axe too.
I think if I had a battle Axe I might use heavier targets. After a thrusting session into a big cooler jug of water it would be fun to finish it off with the battle Axe.
