The more I see the hamon, the more I like it! Good bit of activity at that polish level. What's the steel? T10, 1095?

I hadn't noticed the hamon changes at what I'd guess to be about the halfway point. Rather like how it starts off, sort of a rolling suguha thing, then into the gunome (I'd call it gunome, myself...but what did you say it was originally? I forgot. ) at the motohaba. Nice touch, though mine would have stayed suguha the whole way. The polish is a little grainy, I imagine just about any polishing compound a la metalglo should do it wonders, but I'll let others differ if they must. Travis, it's T10. For, like, the umpteenth time. ;D

They finally got back to me about my request and already they made a mistake about no-hi/bo-hi. I very clearly put no-hi and even put it in the comments section. Already emailed him about getting it with no-hi. Still not sure about the pricepoint, but I'll let you guys know as soon as I get a quote.
Update: Just got a price quote on a custom: US $157 + 52 shipping to the US. Not bad at all I would say.

Yea I think they really like their Hi blades... cuz the couple times I was working out details with them they kept changing it to HI instead of No-Hi

Is "no-hi" their own terminology? If not, it could be a case of assumed typo. The n is right beside the b, at least on a North American Qwerty keyboard... Might be better of simply saying "no bohi" or "without bohi" instead? I know there's so-hi but I don't think there is a no-hi...but the Japanese "no" is sort of like the english "of" in a sense... This might be confusing to the Chinese forges? Just a thought...

...And people are STILL getting it wrong? Yikes...and folks wonder why some of us caution to steer clear of Chinese forges... Making a note to skip this one. !?

Maybe if you order it with a bo-hi.. I'm going to get one eventually, and I likes me a bo-hi on my sword, so hopefully I don't ask for one and not get one.

They have that Yes/No option which I clicked "NO" for no-hi/no bo-hi/no groove and I ALSO put the words "NO GROOVE" in the comments when I ordered. After emailing back and forth it seems he understands I do NOT want a bo-hi. So I guess make sure he understands that you don't want a groove on it before you send any cash and confirm your order. Isn't it harder to make bo-hi anyways? I would think they'd rather make no-hi?

I would do as it does take more effort. AFter a couple emails he assured me my order would not have a bohi but then both potential buyers i had for the sword I was selling fell through so I never placed an order to check em out for myself.

Depends, a lot of production bohi are machine ground, no effort there. Some companies even incorporate bohi carving in the same mechanical program thingy as the "polish" from what I hear here and there. This probably le.ds to MORE "effort" for a blade with no hi, since they now have to flip the switch for on1 blade. Looking at this bohi, it's probably not hand-carved, either...I'd say machine-ground.
