Mine was free when I bought the matching sword on the DSA inventory reduction sale. Had the sword sharpened so they did the dagger for free too. IIRC they sell in the $150-$175 range. HTH, K Thats cool that the sharpened the dagger for you as well... how was the edge on your sword/dagger combo? I have heard less the awesome things said about the DSA sharpening service. I would not not since my DSA swords where sharpened elsewhere. BTW, its been driving me crazy so I have to ask... whats with the little letters at the end of your posts?

The factory sharpened edges were piss poor. I took a file to them after the first attempted cut.
HTH is hope this helps YIS is yours, in service or Yours in the Society (SCA) and of course YMMV is your mileage may vary, all in all just a polite signoff. K is for Kenny, K

Hey KR I like the dagger, classic style but what looks really plain and out of place to me is the round blank place in the pommel center.I had an Atrim that had a pommel like that and I went over to Tandy and looked at all the conchos.Just click on the conchos tag on the left. www.tandyleatherfactory.com/default.aspI found one i liked made sure the circomferance would fit then glued it in.It gave the sword a totally different look not so plain.Originally it looked like this (i changed the handle wrap also but you dont have to worry about that) I went with a pell dragon one but there are all kinds, some really nice celtic ones also and their pretty inexpensive, just a thought.

The edge put on by DSA was terrible, the bevel was just steep to be of any use, I have re-sharpened my dagger so that it now has an apple seed edge which is far better.

Thing is they have one hallmark that they use on all their blades, stamped in the same place on all their blades. Not as noticeable on the swords, does rather stand out on the daggers. Would you say the same thing if it was Jody Sampson's hallmark? or Brenno's? YIS, K My Fable Blades do have a makers mark on them at my request. An FB done in a runic look that is lightly etched into the blade on one and the cross guard on the other. Brendan placed them where they looked best to him and sized artistically to match the look and size of each blade. I didn't specify how he marked them. I like what he chose to do. Keep in mind that you mentioned two custom makers, not a production manufacturer. I wouldn't have a problem with displaying a DSA blade with a makers mark, but I wouldn't want the mark to be one of the most noticeable features of the blade.

Compare it to the makers mark on an Albion for example, which is far more elegant and subtle compared to this
