I was doodling in class today while my professor was critiquing other people's group presentations and I drew a sword. I wanted to share it with you all because, well, who else would appreciate it? Let me know what you think of this one-hander. The grip is supposed to be carved with these, I dunno, wisps? But not bare wood--if there was a way to cover the carvings with leather fit to show the design through, that would be it, I suppose. I was just drawing. The blade's not symmetrical, but hey, it was a freehand doodle in a college class while trying to look like I was paying attention. It's a bit of an elongated leaf shape with a deep fuller, the left side is more accurate to the idea than the right. I'm not sure what I expect to hear, but I'm putting my stuff out there for you. Comment as you may.

Thats a cool sword you drew. If you sword had a 24" or 25" blade I would buy it.

I like that deep fuller. Looks like she could do alot of damage in the thrust as well as the cut. I can actually picture it in my mind's eye. Wish I could doodle as good as that what class were you in btw?

Thanks for the kind words, guys--I really appreciate it.
Chris, haha, I was actually in an "Acting 101" course when I drew it. You can see a bunch of Stanislavski quotes around the blade there. I suppose I was working on "acting" like I was at rapt attention. ;D

That's a really nice drawing. The shading is excellent.

I love it. It reminds me of Glamdring from the LOTR movies. It is a sword that I would buy.

It is a sword that I would buy. Now THAT is high praise indeed. Thanks, Jonathan. You know what? It does look like Glamdring, now that you mention it.

Guess I'll chalk it up to my overall preference for smooth flowing lines over rectilinear shapes, drawing what I like, and having seen the LOTR movies a bunch. Subliminal Glamdring might have popped up here and there without me noticing at the time. What works, works.

Thanks, shadowhowler.
Those are some great drawings! I especially like the monochromatic comic page and the hooded figures. Very cool. Looks like the stuff my older brother used to draw for me when I was little.

each day I visit these forums, I'm finding myself more and more sttracted to european blades. I love the slight leaf-shape you've given to the blade in this sketch!

Shadowhowler, you are a very talented artist. Why didn't you take a job involving art?
