Sorry for the poor quality photos, all I got is a webcam and a crumpled paper. I did this in school. I meant for this to be a single handed sword, or even a hand and a half, but it took it's own turn. ;D What you guys think? I hope to someday get this done. Banzai and Brendan come to mind.

Oh and the blade is supposed to have a wide fuller.

Yeah, looks good! Very well drawn. Pretty traditional design, but with a more interesing grip (like something Christian Fletcher would do?) - the pommel is just big and the guard is small for my liking. That's probably on purpose but it doesn't appeal to me personally.

Thanks a lot! It is not as crooked as it looks. Just a crumpled paper, but thanks again! I made it this way to make it balanced more to my liking. ;D

I like the hilt design a lot! I would personally prefer the blade a little narrower and longer, but overall, very nice design.

I think it's a very nice LOOKING sword. I thing we need some basic dimensions added, to get an idea of just how big this thing is supposed to be, before any solid critique can be given. Blade & grip length and stuff. What do you see the grip being made of? I like the design but it may be too slippery if it's all metal. Is this supposed to be a functional sword or just a pretty wall hanger? As it is I would be afraid to use it with the backward facing points on the guard! I'd be afraid of cutting my wrist on them. Keep refining it though. It's a great start!

Good point! And thanks! ;D I will give what I pictured:
Th grip is covered in leather and has a metal ring in the middle, similar to a few of brendan's swords. Here is some stats I imagine: Overall: 38-40" (Due to pommel and guard) Grip: 8'' Blade: 28-30" I think you would hold the grip from the lower portion, away from the guard. Maybe 2-3" down?
Thanks for the critique!

I have to agree with Mogur that the little backwards pointing spikes are impractical. You'd have much better control if you could safely grip it near the guard.

True... I will erase it with paint and post is separately. ;D *Edit* here it is: I wonder if there is a way to make this look... A bit cooler?

What do you mean "cooler"? You mean the design, or the rendering of the design?

I am not sure how to word it... But basically... I am not sure how to make the guard look... More interesting. ;D I am happy with it so far, there is always room for improvement.

Ah, I see. I don't think it needs anything more. It's plenty interesting, but still has a clean, simple silhouette. If you add anything else, it might get overly busy-looking. That's something that bugs me about a lot of fantasy swords, is that their designs are too busy and elaborate.

I think that it would look cool and unique if you stretched the cross guard out so that it is longer, but slightly thinner. It's just a thought.

That ricasso looks like the one on Conan's Atlentean sword I think.

How is this? ;D Once I got a final form I may redraw it and send it to be commissioned... In time. ;D *Edit* You know? It DOES look a bit better. +1 Jonathan!

I picture it with long, dramatically flaring wings. I do think that you improved it.
