Do you keep your swords locked away in a weapons safe, or put them out on display? If displayed, do you prefer a wall rack, a table stand or some sort of floor rack? Maybe you have a different way of displaying them such as a glass case or crossed over the fireplace mantle. Post a picture if ya got one. I only own one sword & a main gauche, so do not yet have a display rack. I''m thinking of making a wall rack along the lines of this one I made for my Native American flute collection. My flute collection has overgrown the current rack and I need to build another. Building a sword rack at the same time is logical.

It depends. You could either display it on a rack or keep it in a storage case. A good way to store your sword is to keep it in a gun case. Most sword stand on the market is designed to hold a katana. If you are thinking on making a wall rack to hold swords, that would be a great project to work on. That is a very nice flute collection you got there Here is mine Edit: And I tuck the rest under my bed

This is a pretty old picture, but the concept is still the same. My AT 1315 has taken the Marshall's slot, the Marshall now resting against the wall beside my headboard, and I sold my Godfred some time ago, and moved the PK down to its uh...rack. The other swords have come down, too; took them down when I was trying to sell them off, but even though they never sold, I've yet to bother putting them back up. The bayonet there on the top of my headboard has moved to my recliner, opposite my antique wakizashi, and some of the knives on the headboard have moved around. Not shown well in the picture are my favorite "big knives," consisting of a kukri, a Valiant Co. damascus Bosnian knife (a custom version) and a Gen2 12th Century Norman Dagger. Oh, and the Windlass Viking Dirk and a Hanwei Tactical tanto, all lining the bottom "shelf" of my headboard. I have a few of my old display swords stuffed away in a gun safe, a few more in the gun cabinet, and can post those photos too, but for the most part...this is where my good sharpies go. Oh, to those of you who may fear the swords hard to see...be glad it's an old picture.

Kinda depends on the neighborhood. Some places I've lived they all (guns and swords) hung on the walls. Some places they all stay in the gunsafe and NEVER get mentioned to anyone. Right now I have 4 swords, 2 spears, and a longbow on an 8 place standup rack.
A variation on your flute rack should work fine, just adjust the spacing so everything fits.
I don't own a blade worthy of a glass case, and I don't have a fireplace anymore, but my Pennsylvania rifle hung over the mantle for many years.Seems like I had to clean the danged thing every time we built a fire. HTH, K

Looks like you just gave up on those gladii, Rick. LOL, yeah, they're breeding I think. Looks a little different now, I moved some stuff around. The pics are a bit old.

Forgot about the ones up on top of my entertainment center. Most of them wallhangers (including some of the first-ever "full tang" models to hit the market) but if you can see it, the Rawblade spends its days there, waiting for a proper mounting. The axe head off to the side was a gift a year or so ago from a member here. Need to get it hafted up and such, too... The picture is crooked as hell but I blame that on the difficulty of getting a decent angle on the entire entertainment center (bear in mind these photos are old, taken for other purposes than showing off swords) in my room. Just for fun, here's a more recent shot of the headboard rack: The swords are still as they are in that picture, note the majority sit against the wall. I kind of can't put anymore on or around that second shelf...

Are those red and black "Katana" in the first picture the ones I think they are?

Yes. I laugh every time I look at them, so I'll probably never part with them. Only cost me $50 because I started laughing when I saw them for sale at a gun show booth.

I have both wall mounted stands/hangers and table stands. It all depends on my mood and the look of the sword as to how I display it. And of course everything is in constant flux and get moved around.
Hey, I have never posted pictures before so how do you post multiple images. The attachment area is only allowing one image.

A short tutorial on uploading pictures here: /index.cgi?board=tenchincal&action=display&thread=10267 Edit: I use photobucket to host all my pictures. It is free and quite easy to use.

I wasn't aware we HAD an attachment area...shows how often I use the Reply button. Quick Reply ftw. Anywho, upload your pictures to a filehosting site (I use Photobucket) and just drop the URL between the [/img] tags in the main body of your post. That'll embed it directly, as many as you like. And then we have the above.
