does any one have this thing ? Is it tough cause If I buy a mace Im gunna smash some sh** with it I love smashing stuff I bought a pick axe at a garage sale for that very purpose its wonderfull but I think a mace would be a cool thing to have for display purposes but at the same time I wanna smash stuff, but I dont wanna end up taking her out and end up breaking it on a washing machine (which I might add my pickaxe did considerable damage to) yeah so what do people think of this or other maces

The bar mace might be a better bet as far as indestructibility goes. CS used to make one that was pretty BA too. I can't tell you much about this one, though.

Be sure it has a solid shaft. The hollow tubing ones will not stand up to any sort of heavy use.
Make your own out of 3/4 inch hex stock with welded on flanges. Cheaper AND more fun!

Speaking of welding, I've heard that the flanges are welded on the Windlass maces. How reliable could those be?

Pretty reliable for bashing skulls in...not so much if your bashing medium is something like stone, or other metal surfaces. Just an educated guess- but if the haft itself is hollow, I wouldn't bother buying it, that's just dangerous.

The greatest durability would likely come of a single forged piece of steel or a single piece that had been cast and then machined.

I bought one of those. Nice to look at, but it was really too heavy for a single-hander. It was soda cans and vcr tapes at first, then I tried it on a pallet board, four hits and the shaft (hollow, for strength) bends in half. So screw it... I have a headache just remembering it now.

I was thinking about getting that mace as well, but I'm a bit wary about the hollow shaft. Arms and Armor makes a similar one that's more expensive, I don't know if it has a solid shaft though. www.armor.com/pole193.html

If A&A makes it, you're guaranteed to be purchasing a historically-accurate piece made to withstand the rigors of battle. I doubt it'd be a hollow anything on anything they make.

It would make for some devastating blows, provided you could land'm before you were hit yourself.
