Hey Everyone... This is one of Windlasses best and most sought after swords... and so, of course, it's being discontenued. If you have wanted to get one of these... NOW is the time... at MRL's website it is the 'Deal of the Day' and its HALF PRICE! Check it out... www.museumreplicas.com/p-263-oakeshott-type-xiv.aspx

Shadow: should I thank you or curse you for spending money I should save in these times? Nah, a nice sword is always good money spent: thanks for the heads-up man! It's nice of you to share with us this good deal! Regards, Reflingar edited to add: we should have a specific thread to post such special deals we see on the web to share with others...just a suggestion... edited: I can now swear this is my last Windlass purchase ever...

Heh... Yeah, I saw it today and I had to blink a couple times just to make sure I was seeing it right... I KNEW this sword was super popular... and we have all ready rave reviews on it... but maybe didnt wanna shell out the dough... ...but at 122.50, it's pretty damn hard to say no.

How is MRL's sharpening service?

How is MRL's sharpening service? Meh. It will put a secondary bevel on it, they do it with a big grinding wheel of some sort... so it's not ideal... but it will be somewhat sharp if you have them do it and you don't wanna do it yourself.

Hmmmm, I think I would rather sharpen it myself or have it done right than have to fix a secondary beveled edge.

I've got three or so blades sharpened by MRL (bought two through KOA but I believe they use MRLs service). All have cut and held up well albiet with a secondary bevel.

Wow,great price for a nice sword.I've held that sword last time I was in the showroom and it feels great. As for their sharpening service I bought the operatives sword from serenity on my last trip and had it sharpened.I dont know much about bevels and all the sharpening terminology but when it came back to the front after they sharpened it,it was a razor.

Damn you Sean...I almost bought one! But I made myself a promise...so I doubt if I'll be pickin up anymore Windlass blades...although, at that price, it is fair worth it. I am tempted...

I had one, I sold it... and I missed it... at 120 or so, the sword is SO worth it it's not even funny. You'll not find ANYTHING as good at that price, I promise you.

But you're not getting another one, are you? Yeah, I did... even tho I psomised the wife I would not buy anymore swords, even tho I told myself I was done with lower end swords... at 120 I could not resist it.
