Didn't know where to post this, so here we go: To all Israeli members/people that are watching this, me and another member are organizing a moyoushi in Israel, date planned: end of June. Things needed to participate: 1 sword at least, money for mats and food&drinks. If interested, PM me or Pika007.
BTW, is that pronounced moyo-ushi, or moyooshi (long O')?

I am guessing Moyo-Ushi.

It's a long O, pronounced kinda like our word "oh." Basically you make the "o" sound then the "u" sound. Pretty simple, but confusing as heck if you're used to the crazy way English words are spelled.

remembering the japanese I learnt it would sound something like this;
mo-yo-u-shi
mo as in more but short, yo are in your again shorter, u we don't really have a sound for this in the english language like oo but short sound and shi sounds like semprini without the t. Hope that makes sense.

What's with the mapquest directions? Did I miss a punchline somewhere?

Oh, semprini, hadn't noticed. Apparently my clipboard hates me.
All better.
(A friend in the Radford area had mentioned via IM a desire to travel to Bluefield for a concert, so I looked up basic directions to see how far it was and linked it to them to show what a backwards route it was...and somehow I guess the first link didn't succeed in copying so when I pasted it was the mapquest instead... In itself its own punchline, I guess...)

Thereabouts. Part of me wishes I didn't believe there are more people on this forum who don't know where Israel is, than we have members from Israel.

Because it's right over there. People should know that. So who on this forum IS from Israel, anyway? I'm quite curious.

LMAO @ THAT
There's a lot people should know, but they only know about it if there is an interest within them for it, whatever it is.

Geography is not something that gets tested much in Amercan high stakes "learning results" or college boards and therefore doesn't get taught much. There are significant numbers of people that don't know where Virginia or New Zealand are either.
Maybe other countries have a better handle on teaching geography?

Maybe these days, but I had it drilled pretty hard in my early years.
Then again, most just don't care.
