I haven't seen much about their slightly higher priced options in the about $400 range. For example this one Here. So I'd like to hear from anyone who has pulled the trigger on one. Also for those of you who got yours fully customed in any price range, have you been able to request a heavy cutting build as they all appear to be more mat cutters.

I wouldn't trust Hanbon to do any high end swords. Shadow Dancer has several swords around the 500 mark.Check out their Tamashigeri series and Warrior monk series on the site, they also carry the typical lonquan stock of tsuba if you don't like their plainer inventory. If you don't get one of their spring steel blades, I would recommend paying for Niku if you gonna do heavy cutting www.swordcn.com/1095-Steel-Clay-Temper-Sashikomi-Polishing-Katana-p352302.htmlRVA katana also has various medium to heavy cutting blades in stock, as well as some higher end Dragon Kings for sale. John is very helpful if you have Any questions about a particular sword.

The point of this thread is to hear from those who may have owned any of their mid range offerings as I hear nice things about their lower end and wonder what they'd be like with a little more effort in them. And if they offered a heavy cutter configuration. Their top end stuff doesn't impress me. Shadow appears to only offer an itomaki upgrade, I see nothing about a heavier geometry option. That appears to be a strictly Zsey deal and I have only seen it offered on their own page. Far as RVA, their heavy cutter page was empty.

you can ask HBF about heavier geometry and see if they can execute

Interesting. Sort of reminds me of the old Hanwei Golden Oriole. Now as I didn't see any options for that on the page itself, did you just say 'add niku' in the box they provide? How much more expensive was it to add? Were there any other size options you specified that they charged you extra for?

I ordered via email to HBF. SInce the whole blade is custom made to my specs, i dont know what niku costs are. I think they have only one cost factor, and that is custom blade. I cant say what the costs where, around 400€ with shipping costs, i think. But i can be wrong.

In any case, thanks for the input. It always helps to hear from actual product owners.
