photos.app.goo.gl/CbzMYKyVRZ6zsfji9Forgive me guys if my timing is off sometimes. I have a question. I bought this saber from an auction. I don’t know where it was made. Is it too much to ask for more information about that and the sword itself? Who to ask? It looks like it had a sticker on the blade at one point. I’ve been polishing it for years, and have grown fond of it. It’s a real ass kicker. 😁🇺🇸

That's very odd, even Confederate swords usually had marks. Sometimes makers would sign the spine of the sword, sometimes the ricasso, sometimes stamped on the inside of the hilt...is it possible that got polished off if it was on the blade?
Besides being sold as an "American Sabre" was there any era or other info assigned to it ( family history, region , era, etc.?)

With all the grip tape and assorted add-ons, it's hard to tell. If the blade has no marks, it's probably a cheap reproduction. Also, the pics are too far back to assess the castings on the hilt, so no way to tell. I hope it was cheap.

Yes, I'm pretty sure it's a replica. The metal corner is pretty rough on the spine, the metal looks too new, and it doesn't look like there's any significant distal taper. Yes, it's a container of marijuana on the window sill! I hope our OP is in Canada!

Replica??? God, you guys know how to hurt a fella. This sword was bought at auction. It’s not a repro. There are no engravings or markings, but from the construction of the hilt to the steel of the blade which was polished with something that smelled like old tank track grease, to all the action the damn thing has seen, I say it’s a damn fine not so old saber.
So there…

Personally, I find the guard interesting, but you can't be upset if people suspect a replica. Even Auction houses can be fooled.
By calling people "Jerks" you scuttle any chance of getting someone who recognizes that guard style.

Doesn't sound very solid with all the rattling.

Doesn't sound very solid with all the rattling. Indeed. Blade might be solid, but the guard? Souds like a job for superglue.

Eight minor (1/3 power & distance) swings does not a toughness test make in my book. Only thing proven is that it's not made of marshmello.
Oh, and if you only left the word "jerks" off of the end of your post you'd have been perfect.
