Just a simple question; Has anyone handled and/or reviewed LK Chen's Munich Town Guard side sword yet? I've always heard great things about LK Chen's Jian's and (from the reviews I've seen) they seem to be very competent cutters and are pretty faithful reproductions of the historical examples they base some of their swords on. Just curious if anyone has gotten a stab at their take on the Munich? (pun intended)
If so; Would love to hear your personal impressions on it! Edit: This sword might be newer than I thought. Not like "few months new", but (if going by their youtube video upload date) then "not even a week" new.
Haha, shows how much I keep up with following new releases. Just so happened to be looking at side swords and saw LK Chen made one.

I do not own one, but maybe I will go for it in the future. It looks very good and it has, unlike the Windlass, the three bars at the back spot on. The only one having the hilt correct until now was the Arms and Armour version. Blade looks very good too. 6.5 mm thickness at the guard? Very nice! Would have liked to have an insert in the first ring like in the picture, but this can be DIY. All in all, it sure does look good to me. Thank you Mr. Cheng! Cheers.

From what I've heard about the windlass one, it's quite the hefty sword. Looking at LK Chen's they made it a lil over 3lbs, which seems like a higher end for a side sword (more experienced individuals feel free to correct me) but it is lighter than Windlass's version. Point of balance though is about half that of Windlass, and it has a much more prominent distal taper, so I wonder how much more nimble and point control their Munich would offer. It's a very tempting contender, as I am currently looking for a side sword. Sadly (but understandably) they do not offer a left-handed variant of the guard, which (as a leftie) I've found it's pretty hard to find side swords that offer left-handed wielding.

Wondering if anybody has gotten one of the LK Chen Munich Town Guard swords in the last month? If so, we'd love to hear what you think!

I just got mine this Wednesday, I think I'm in the first batch here.
So far it's very good. I love the weight and balance of it. Compared to all other one handed swords that I have it feels like the most optimized. Its heavy enough to actually cut through something, but light enough to maneuver fairly easily.
Quality wise it's very good, handle wrap is nice and tight, blade is perfect, great polish and factory sharpening.
Overall I'm liking it quite a bit.

I'm wondering how it compares to the Windlass version? That one never felt quite right to me, and the weight and balance of it made it a poor cutter. The lk chen version looks so much better.

I haven't had the funds to try it yet(that shipping is a semprini) but just looking at the specs it should handle leagues better and looks better. The windlass variant is a crowbar with a fancy hilt, if I hadn't already customized mine to my liking I'd sell it to buy this one.

Kult of Athena has them in stock. I wish they were ambidextrous, sigh...

I ordered one from KoA yesterday. FedEx says it should be delivered tomorrow.

mine arrived today although the bars are not symmetrical, there is absolutely nothing that prevents you from using it in the left hand the balance and handling are excellent - it did a fine job mutilating the KoA shipping box the point is stiffer than the Saxony, so it is a better stabber on arrival, the scabbard is a little loose (it will hold if turned pommel down, but the sword slides out if shaken mildly. This is good because the Saxony scabbard was perfect on arrival and is now too tight. I'll see how the Munich scabbard progresses over the next 3-4 months.

Congrats on picking up L.K. Chen's Munich town guard sword!
Why don't you write a review and post in the review section? I'm sure a lot of people in the forum would be interested. I'm thinking of picking one up and would love to check the accuracy to the original, as well as the heaviness of the hilt.
Enjoy!
