Okay. I am bored. I admit it. That is why I am going on this rant.
Yes, I am a convicted felon who is on probation. However, my crime did not involve the use of a weapon nor by law in this state is it a violent crime. Yet I cannot even have a waster nor bokken. I am not allowed to legally defend myself. It does not matter that as an inmate I was a model inmate and for over five years on probation have I violated the rules of probation even the ones I disagree with. I have been transparent and honest. Passed all polygraphs and have been attending and participating the counselling group as ordered. The probation supervisor still treats me as she does the ones who constantly break the rules, fail polygraphs, drink alcohol miss appointments and get disrespectful with them. The first year or two I can understand that. After more than five years it is just purely out of hate. Heck, the officer who arrested me was very respectful to me when I got back to town after my release. My first three probation officers were too. When I started to want to give up on probation my first two probation officers and the officer who arrested me convinced me not to and were very encouraging to me during their time as my probation officer. The third one was very supportive and encouraging as well. Now that she has been tainted so soon by the supervisor, I am concerned that my current probation officer will be harsher than necessary and rude. People can change and do so. It is just do they want to enough to do what is legal and necessary to change? I am and I have been. Sorry for ranting again.

Unfortunately, when one runs afoul of the law, the law tends to run afoul of them...
Consequences and all that.

Well, on probation, you're limited. It's the way it is. Fair, it depends. But I think your rant is more about having a better business relationship with your parole officer. I'd give the new one break, but I'd also use it to hopefully improve the relationship. Considering the amount of poo they deal with daily, they're going to be a bit jaded. Think of it as a quest. Make them laugh.

I used to be in the same position lol. I'm out of it now, but if I had a choice between upsetting my probation officer or getting attacked with no defense, I would be fine with jail to be honest. Man has made weapons out of sticks and rocks from the end of time, they cannot ban a man's ability to use anything he wants as a weapon
Besides, if I was carrying my bat in my car with a glove and ball, obviously it was to go play baseball 😎

Would you ever possibly be willing to share what you actually did to end up in this predicament? I mean you obviously seem willing to rant about it openly. I don't know If I would be able to empathize if I don't know what it was. I am just being honest. I am only willing to openly say that I did a terrible thing. For me to get more specific than that I would have to know you in person well. I will add this. It irritates me when people said that I made a mistake. It was not a mistake. I knew what I was doing and I did it intentionally. A mistake is something done by accident or out of ignorance. I fit neither of those. Another truth to it is that I deeply regret it and even as I was doing it, I was angry with myself. I was caught in an addiction that I tried to fight on my own. No addiction can be conquered by the addict alone. He or she will need help.

There must be a number of options. Seriously, I enjoy most of your posts but have no idea what the benefit you get from posts like these.

Sleep deprivation and medications. It is mainly meant to be rhetorical. I see that these rants are definitely not well received. I will try to make this my last one. Sorry everyone.

It's a lot of very personal, private stuff that many of us can't relate to because it's criminal activity AND you are holding back the nature of. It may be cathartic for you to write about it and tell everybody but a lot of us really don't know how to respond to somebody who knowingly made poor choices and is ranting about the consequences. i enjoy many of your musings otherwise. Just saying...

If you're in the US, in most states you should be able to own black powder pistols, can even have them deilvered straight to your house, no ffl or backround check needed. Granted, like you said, if your ever in a situation where you would need it, the judge probably wont give a semprini about the details of the situation and will lock you back up anyway, not too mention the hassle of explaining why you have it should your place ever gets searched. Most of my family are felons so I know how much of a pain in the ass it is to navigate the legal bs.

Just saying... Musings are one thing but these rants are completely different. I was ranting over restrictions that were placed on me because I made a choice to break the law. I have accepted that. Like many of you said, it is hard to feel sympathy when you do not know what it was or the nature of it. I will stick to my musings and leave the ranting over my bad choices out.
