Why do all fish have to be scary? Don't be a fishaphobe! I know some fish and they are very nice. Give you the scales off their back, they would!

Just Fyi but these aren't all supposed to be scary, just strange and obscure. Feel free to post scary ones of your own though. I would love to see it. Oh no, i hope I didn't end up implying so at all. Thank you for sharing

Yeah, one of my neighbors looks more or less like the first picture and he's a decent guy!

Just avoid the ones that we used to trawl up occasionally while I was at Woods Hole, that nobody wanted to talk about. Hell to clean, and tasted awful, too. Used to turn up near Newburyport.

My favorite sea dweller, the Selkie, though scary only in the "being at a junior high dance and working up the courage to ask a girl to dance" way...

It's actually pretty interesting how Europeans viewed the world back in the old days. A lot of people from the Greeks to the people in the High Middle Ages seemed to think that the world was full of different kinds of intelligent/semi-intelligent species with various levels of civilization. I was reading Tacitus's Germania a few months ago. He was listing the various tribes that he classified as German, and at the very end of the list he mentioned a tribe of dog headed people. I believe he wasn't sure if they were real or not, and he didn't classify them as Germans if I remember correctly.

This makes me wanna watch a lovecraft inspired movie. And by lovecraft I mean the fish and sea related horror, less of the psycho analysis body horror, which I am still down to see if anything makes it well enough
