By some kind of bizarre coincidence, I happen to be donating blood while I'm watching this video and reading the Wikipedia article.

She preferred the blood of young virgins, correct?
Claimed it to be rejuvenating. There have been some studies on mice, injecting old mice with the blood of healthy young mice.
In modern times, there are proven cases of child trafficking among elites (sometimes even hunting for sport in castles, I can dig and link if anyone is dubious).
Unproven for now is a link with adrenochrome.
Looks like the countess was ahead of her time.
Evil, powerful folks preying on the young and vulnerable to cling to life. It's like the plot of the Dark Crystal, basically!

Alright I think looking up Marc Dutroux , many say he was a fall guy for bigger players and point to all the issues with the case.
300,000 Belgians marched, pretty big whop.

Keep any and all hints of QAnon crap out of here. I'm not Q-Anon at all. If you've read or listened to anything by Bill Cooper, Ted Gunderson, Phil Schnieder, etc you've known about this semprini since the 90s. Making it political and making it look like an extreme idea is really dangerous considering the validity and history of these topics. /now back to an historical example.

Just to be clear: The use of adrenochrome as a recreational drug is PURE FICTION (as in literal fiction written by Aldous Huxley, Hunter S. Thompson etc.) that has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with real child abuse or human trafficking, and the ONLY source that claims otherwise is QAnon crap and further crap inspired by it. It's "unconfirmed" in the same sense that Countess Ecsedi Báthory Erzsébet being a magical Atlantean undead vampire from outer space and the real power behind Elvis Presley's rise to fame is unconfirmed.

Explaining why it really matters regardless of politics would just be further derailing...
So, moving on more on topic, I can't be the only one who finds the speculation that Báthory might have been the victim of character assassination at least as intriguing as the conventional take, right? It would be just as classic a gothic horror tale, and very similar to what was demonstrably done to the Templars, many wealthy Jews, etc. Especially with the stereotypical rumors of witchcraft and Devil worship, although those don't seem to have been a factor in the actual investigation and may have been added in later folklore.

No you're not the only one. I haven't done any serious reading about Bathory but would not be surprised if these demonic claims were made up and/or greatly exaggerated.
I have done a lot of reading about Vlad Dracula (AKA "Tepes" or "The Impaler) and the historical figure (hero for many Romanians) is VERY different from the demonic portrayal in recent stories, movies, and in leaflets/newspapers published during his time. I've found books by Radu Florescu (among others) very useful. Vlad's case it's pretty obvious because the following parties all benefited from and participated in his character assassination: A number of Saxon merchants/publishers, the Ottoman Empire, the Hungarian royal family, and both the Catholic and Orthodox Churches at different times.
I don't bring up Vlad to derail the topic but to point out similarities. Bringing it back to Bathory we need to find out if she had contemporary competitors who benefited from her character assassination and if any of those parties were actually involved in spreading the stories about her?
As they say in detective work: who had opportunity, means, and motive?

Bathory was terribly misunderstood. What are peasants for if not for bathing in their blood.
I mean seriously. Think of the context people!
