A shoulder rig is much more practical/quicker for extra large blades.

So many things wrong, but like Ramdom I'm not going to pick this apart.

You would really love my long blades, good balance and fast in the hand. Do have some chunkers for heavy duty work too.

Have you seen my big personal bowie, 12in long, 2in wide 1/4in thick. Just not going to be sticking it down my pants. Knowing my luck I would have a bad draw, cut sometime off and ever get lucky agian.

Across the belly or across the small of the back are traditional carries for long blades (janissary and gaucho respectively) but a shoulder rig is quicker to deploy. Back to the Crazy Crow and cheaper stuff, (in another thread) Justin had wondered if Windlass would sharpen a back edge. That reads to me as he would not be able to grind or sharpen a back edge, so it really eliminates a great number of offerings unless he is prepared to do it himself or pay someone to do it. True even of most production knives, even the expensive ones. That takes one to offers such as Diggers above, or approaching other sellers and makers already offering a knife with both sides sharp. My own preferences run shorter than 9" but daggers are already set to be sharp on both sides. I have to say that quality production fighters are costing as much as custom these days. That has lent to the various tactical machete weight blades from Condor and others. My last cheap fighter I bought is older than me (that's pretty old). I have more of these EG Waterman knives and they were cheap alternatives during WWII and Korea. Too short for Justin's tastes www.ebay.com/itm/WWII-US-theater-made-fighting-knife-nicely-wrapped-handle-7-1-2-blade-/121663711392?No doubt there are folk here capable of offering what he wants but I have a hunch they will run more that $100. Even a Darksword messer would run a pretty penny and at that level, there are offerings such as Diggers and others.

I can sharpen back edges if need be, just did my sp10 today. I just relegate my custom purchases to winter months or I'd go broke lol.

If the guard was a little shorter that would ride awesome iwb. I like it though, has a slicey profile to it.

Well it wasn't build for concealment just full fighting. It's 1/4in thick full flat grind with a sharp top edge. It slices well and will handle heavy chopping. If you like them long stick this down your pants. Can't remember at work think it has a 16in blade, maybe longer.

That's starting to get into the realm of needing a duster to conceal. Honestly though a big bowie is a good cc piece, has been since it's creation. It's intimidating, a versatile fighter, and a tool when called upon to be one.

What people wore back then was a lot diff. most men wore long suit coats all the time. the pants were a lot looser.
You do know Jim Bowie was a major semprini. One of the biggest crooks around. He ever developed a fight style he was a brawler, he just hacked and chopped.

He ever developed a fight style he was a brawler, he just hacked and chopped. Yeah I know he was a slaver and psycho, but his knives rocked, even you know that. Also I wear slim fitting pants and a medium button up shirt with an under shirt and my windlass bowie disappears. They really do hide well with minimal effort. Here in az they aren't uncommon concealed carry pieces either.

Mainly I like James Black the man who forged the knife we all know and love as a bowie knife. He's was from Arkansas so I'm I.
