with shipping was like 1000 but that one was really worn Pennywise and dollar dumb. The sword and its original box sold out the door delivered for $1100 with no wait. It didn't look "worn" at all. The first place to look for use wear is the wrap on the grip and it was perfect. There was some light surface rust on the steel pommel.. steel will do that if you don't maintain it. Looked like lots of finger print smudges on the blade...and maybe a crappy attempt to take surface rust off the guard with a scotchbtite pad incorrectly. As for shipping.. packing and shipping that Albion Museum line wooden box is what would drive the shipping price to $100. If you get a museum line sword you might as well have the "full set" including the original box. I know, I own several museum line and next generation Albion's including a Solingen and the boxes are very nice accessories. Here is my Soligen, a very early one...in a scabbard from Christian Fletcher, the first one he ever made for that model.

Edges are intact nd the grip has no wear at all. it lokks like the sword hung on a wall in display and was not maintained. Easily cleaned up which you should do before oiling the sword and putting it in the safe. Here are Albion's directions: www.albion-swords.com/swords/albion/sword-care.htm

It would have been an easy cleanup for me, but I just wasn't crazy about the model.

It would have been an easy cleanup for me, but I just wasn't crazy about the model. I am actually the new owner. It was a little dicy as the seller only posted one side of the blade in the auction. On the side that was not shown was about a inch of rust on the edge where the sword would have mad contact thru a water jug. I now have two Soligens. The clean up of ALL the rust was SIMPLE and easy with some Flitz and a couple rags. You can see that the sword was subjected to some light cutting and never really cleaned up and cared for after cutting sessions. Just a few very light scratch marks down towards the tip where I suspect the sword was used for cutting water jugs. Handle/wrap is perfect. I am probably going to keep this "Ebay" Soligen and see if I can trade my new unused/pristine Soligen for something else or if not, I'll just keep it. If I do keep it I will need to have another scabbard made. I hate owning swords without scabbards. I guess I do have a little OCD I suspect as I have a thing for owning two of everything I like.. one to use and one to be a safe queen; swords, guns, watches, vehicles etc... its a bit of an obsession.

Good job! Nothing like getting a good deal on something of high quality. The restoration is something you can take pride in, as well. I agree with you on scabbards; if nothing else, it's nice to have them for when you need to transport them, and it just feels wrong to put them in a rifle case bare-bade

I am not sure since I do not own that particular Del Tin.
Del tins tend to be good swords. Some are a little heavy but others are well balanced.
Looking at the stats for the DT5155 the weight is similiar but have no idea about the balance.
I do know that my Talhoffer is well balanced and it does not feel like it weighs more than 3 1/2 pounds.
It is quick and moves smoothly especially with two hands but still good with one hand.

I kinda wonder how the Talhoffer compares to the DT5155. I have a Talhoffer, a very handy sword. It has significant distal and profile taper. It starts a out at 8.75 mm thickness and progressively works its way down to 3.75 mm, a total of 57% Del Tins have never been noted for a lot of distal taper. They often keep the same thickness for the first half of the blade, and taper down a bit from there. The DT5155, with its focus on thrusting may not need a lot of distal taper. It would be interesting if you could put some calipers to it. I remember, back around 1999, the DT5155 was THE sword to have. I wonder if Del Tin has revamped its blade geometry since then?

Thank you good Sir! I just picked up the Alexandria!!! Apparently they have more than one as after my purchase, the sword is still listed as being in stock. I was so tempted to buy the Count as well but I already have too many brown and black wrapped swords. I'm looking for one in blue.
