Take the money, It's the American way that made this country what it is today. You say that like its a good thing. Have you had a look around lately? The "take all you can get" philosophy is a large part of why this country is suffering right now. None of this makes sence for him...isnt he in Canada. They tend not to be American there Oh just to back up what everyone is saying, sell it, take the wife/girlfriend/boyfriend/whatever for a nice night out and take the rest and buy another sword.

Drache, I like the fact that you questioned yourself as to the merits of this sale; to me this speaks of a fair-minded individual. You informed him that he could have the sword for less, you even TOLD HIM WHERE TO GET IT- if that isn't leading the horse to water, I don't know what is.
Sell him the sword; if you're still feeling like you 'got over', why not take half of the profit and donate it to a good cause- by this you will have accomplished four things:
1 - he's happy, he has a sword purchased from someone he apparently trusts 2 - you're helping your community 3 - your mind can rest easy now, you've done a good thing on two fronts 4 - you made a profit on a sword that you'd already owned and used; how backwards is that? Usually you're forced to sell lower than what you paid for!
Lastly, lose not one more second of sleep over this; he wants the sword, sell it to him- but only if you're willing to part with it. If you are not, all this discussion is moot.

I agree that Every country isn't suffering, I do however sincerely hope, Marabunta that you aren't Implying; America is the Only country suffering financial crisis at the moment.
Back to the topic at hand:
Drache, If you haven't already taken this gentleman up on his offer I have only this to say, You have gotten a Considerable amount of advice in this thread so far and I agree with the majority of it. If you are comfortable with the situation, If he is really interested and excited, take him up on it! the only thing you need to consider is if you are happy to do this fellow a service for which he has already given you the value he puts to it. I understand that you may have second thoughts regarding the whole mess with getting your Takeo exchanged and the long wait with customs but you did this community a favor by reviewing the sword you received and now you can do this gentleman a favor by providing him with something that he puts a lot of value in.
So, Take the money, Hand him the sword, shake his hand and enjoy yourself as I am certain he will.

The US is certainly not alone....however any informed person knows this financial debacle is certainly not worldwide. Sure many countries are adjusting their economies because the US is a major consumer, but they are far from suffering to the tune of 30 trillion like here in the US

Hey marabunta, every country is suffering not only America. Most (all?) experts agree that the global recession began in and was caused by the US economy faltering, which was itself the result of exactly what marabunta pointed out.

Drache, are you satisfied that you've received an adequate amount of advice to make an accurate and informed decision?

My opinion, if your having doubts about it now, your going to be thinking about it later.
Money is money, but you said this is your friend? If you feel that this might hinder the friendship then is it worth $200?
To me its more of an issue of "How is this going to affect you" and not so much markup and money. He's fine with paying you $300 apparently. But you wouldn't have posted a thread on here if you were feeling 100% fine about it.
So we can sit here and all day and tell you that we'd do it, but it all comes down to how you feel about it and if/how its going to affect you doing it.

Drache:
What would be wrong with offering to buy one for him (or giving him yours, and buying a new one for yourself) at original price, and just getting him to pay you back whatever you paid (plus maybe a little extra for your trouble if it makes him feel better)?
This way, you help your friend get the sword he wants but can't get, and neither of you are out any extra money. This seems like the logical thing to do as a friend, really.
EDIT: Oops...will send this to Drache via PM, and will lock the thread at his request.
