Nice thanks for the News, Just saw State of play this weekend, funny to see him in better shape, (Off topic, good thriller by the way, go see it.) I am kind of surprised he has the whole gladiator haircut going on, but that is neither here nor there, I second the hopes for Period Correct props, the bow is looking good so far, to my untrained eyes anyway. at least we have someone that looks like they could draw the poundage on a decent bow, *Cough kevincostner cough cough* I did however still love that movie, -Reisz

Random Crowe Fact: He turned down the roll of Logan/Wolverine for the X-men movies.... More info on the movie can be found here: www.imdb.com/title/tt0955308/

ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED? ;D
Two words...
BAD ASS!
Crowe was meant to be a period actor and he does a great job at it. This will be the best Robin Hood of all time...

I also hope they do it a little more historically accurate.... maybe actually show some crusade fights, or why he left the crusades.

Forget Kevin Costner-- Patrick Bergen was *much better* as Robin Hood: www.imdb.com/title/tt0102797/The costumes and setting were more historical than "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves" and the acting wasn't that hokey. This will be the yardstick against which I will measure Russel Crowe's movie. --Edward

Maximus would kick even Chuck Norris' ass - keep in mind; this dude threw a gladius and killed a Praetorian 100 yards away. ;D
Russell will redefine Robin Hood out of the tights and merry man thing and into a lean green killing machine...

I really liked that Robin of Sherwood series in the mid 80's. The one with Ray winston as Will Scarlet and the music by the Irish group Clannad.
So much better than that mind-numbingly inane effort with Jonas Armstrong as Robin.

Hmm I also thought they were done doing this story in the movies, but I agree Crowe is a great period actor. So as long as the writters do a good job, this could be a great movie.

The photo appears to be pretty historically accurate, as far as my knowledge can tell. Admittedly, I am a rank amateur in these matters.
I look forward to seeing this.

originally the movie was going to be about the sheriff who was going to be a good guy while robin was more of a semprini and crowe was going to play both parts... but he was taking too long to lose weight so they basically rewrote the script to a traditoinal robin hood story

Yes Crowe is a good actor i just hope this movie is done right. Another movie that i am looking foward to is "freedom within the heart" i know a crap name. It's about Brian Boru king of Ireland and the battle of Clontarf 1014 AD against the Vikings it may be a crap movie but atleast there will be a lot of sword battles in it.

Russell Crowe does well in actioners; anyone remember him in Virtuosity? He was vicious as Sid 6.7. This should be a good movie provided the production values and acting are of a par- nothing will ruin a good movie faster than poor acting and/or a low budget. IMO.

Initial commentary and random thoughts: Guys, it's RIDLEY SCOTT! The man is nothing if not obsessed with production values. Also, he's the man who shot The Duellists! I'm not a huge Russell Crowe fan, but think he's done some really good work. Robin Hood isn't my favorite theme, but I'm looking forward to seeing how this one turns out.
Also, based on memory more than anything else (and it's in my Netflix queue for refreshing recollections), I have fond impressions of Sean Connery in "Robin and Marian." Although it took a bit to adjust to Sean Connery as Robin of Locksley, I remember really enjoying that one as well.
