Well I finally cut my first things ever ;D. Wow it was a lot of fun too! One thing learned; I need to practice, practice, practice ;D. It's a good thing I was using a plastic trash can as a stand! I destroyed it too. My "Tenchi" is an awesome cutter. It had no problem cutting through those plastic invaders or the 3/4" manila rope! I can definitely see why people enjoy the Katanas so much. My cane sword did very well on everything as well, though it took two tries on the rope. My ranger sword struggled through the plastic bottles but it did cut them. It felt good to swing this beefy sword. My Hundred Year War Sword...... is a baseball bat. Still I like the way this sword feels in my hand. My wife is going to buy me a belt sander, so I'll hopefully be able to fix that. My wife cut as well as my oldest son and they really enjoyed it too. Man what a great day! Edit: 'cause I'm computer illiterate

Outstanding, Sparky! Most excellent pile of victims, that. Nice weapons too. One of those 1x30 HF beltsanders ought to deal with that war sword. Now, how about some video next time? ;D +1 just cause I'm happy for ya. PS, it's great you got the family involved. I ain't had no luck getting my DJ to swing at a bottle.

My wife is working on the video as we speak, she the one with a you tube account and the brains , so as so as I have them I'll post them. She's also going to get my that belt sander too. Ric I told myself, self- after you cut those vicious little bottles you have to remember to drink out of the bottom half just like Ric.......... Got caught up in the moment and forgot. Oh well ;D

So, either you broke it again, or the videos aren't up yet.
FIX IT. These things need to stop fixing themselves as soon as I post that they don't work. Your kid seemed eager to have a go. Poor trash can.

Nice Sparky If I may offer one tip... if you start with your left foot forward, step through with your right as you cut so you don't end up twisted at the end of the cut.

Beginner's luck. Don't worry, you'll get it. Mind your edge alignment. That has always been my biggest problem, and the best way I've found to fix it is thin pool noodles, held in such a way as to be limp and easy to bat away. (I have a Y-shaped contraption a friend made for me from a couple of nails that I drive into the top, then tie a rope to that.) That way, when you cut, anything less than perfect edge alignment will either A: bat the target away, or B: cut/rip it with a ragged edge. Do basic cuts, vom tag to alber, or nebenhut for your oberhaus, or nebenhut to ochs for your unterhaus. Be sure to keep your blade work tight and controlled...your blade should stop perhaps six inches past the target, to keep you from over committing to a cut. This being said from a WMAer, who has to worry about another sword coming in at him. May not apply to you.

Gratz Sparky! You have the same problem I do. I don't know how we are expected to achieve military superiority over the plastic horde when all we hear are cries of "Can I go now" and "Is it my turn yet." +1 karma to you for the fun day with the family and for keeping your focus on the enemy despite beleaguered attempts at distraction from your own troops

Your wife got the credit for the trash can cut 'cause she was the one to tell you "just chop straight down " ;D I wish I have back yard with friendly neighbor like your Ha Ha that's my son ;D He's only thirteen and has a higher voice than my wife. But he's mean with a sword. I'd get him to replace the trash can..... but I cut it. Thanks thana
