Not exactly accurate. The Del Tin is an interpretation of a museum piece... and more than those 2 companies have madee versions of it.

Every sword is a copy of another sword if it is a "so called" historically based sword.

Deepeeka offering a version actually goes back quite a ways. That it is being offered as functional is possibly an error by KOA but Deepeeka has been working on evolution of sturdier stock for some time now. A deep search over at myAmoury will turn up one of their representatives chiming in a time or two. One might even stimble over Fulvio Del Tin making an apperance. Something that was mroe regular back in the old Highlander forums that became SFI. While we are reviewing history, some might enjoy these articles. swordforum.com/swords/historical/gbs.htmlwww.swordforum.com/swords/deltin/gbs-vs-ghh.html www.angelic.org/highlander/swordmakers/deltin.htmlwww.angelic.org/highlander/swords/realgbs.html Of course, there is nothing wrong with spending a little time searching, say www.netsword.com and reviewing even more threads regarding Deepeeka, their gothic and a myriad other anecdotes about the market during "the old days". The best part was that the museum piece was determined to be a copy of a copy itself. The Del Tin, while offering the best approximation of that museum example; misses the point that in terms of the movie sword was actually a result in Museum Replicas version with a Del Tin blade. That in turn predates Fulvio's break with Museum Replicas and their transfer to ownership by Windlass Steelcrafts. So to me, someone mentioning the Deepeeka example bieng so sad, really only relates (to me) that there is a whole lot behind the evolution and basing good information on ad copy alone is kind of a superficial and subjective reality of what has really driven the market about the sword type for about 15 years. Cheers Hotspur; gawd, I was even an old fart that long ago

The KOA second hand offering is an older Del Tin-MRL version. The straight quillions are actually correct for the Highlander example. If you read one of the links I posted, you, see a side by side review of by Gus Trim. Cheers Hotspur; I need coffee

Damn right I need my coffee. Yes, you need to love your 5155. I know I don't go a day without looking at my 5157 but need to unlimber it from the wall more often. Other things have been taking up time and I'm still in a bit of recovery. I am liking my fly weight stuff lately, as it is not as big a strain. I'm still a hurtin' fool. Cheers Hotspur; brain dead but generally enjoying life

So where'd the OP go? I was going to ask him what constitutes a fake. I suspect we could call most of what we ogle and drool over fake, seeing as they are only copies of or 'inspired by' the originals.
But you guys pretty much covered it.
You know, Glen, when I spent a goodly amount of time in SFI I used to read that little byline you do with most of your posts and often wondered if you were talking to an imaginary friend. I didn't get the Hotspur reference (I mean, I know the historical reference but not the personal one) til I came on here. Cheers.
