I know that this is above the usual price range for these boards, but one of you guys maybe able to help.
I was just wondering if any of you guys have handled Albion’s Agincourt hand and a half sword or any of their type XVa's I appreciate that they are really thrusting swords, but want to know if anyone has used one to cut with, and if so what are they like. I expect them not to be as good in the cut as a dedicated cutter. Will I be able to dice a milk bottle or will I just bat it across the garden

From what a couple folks here have reported, Albion's XVs cut a LOT better than would be expected. RicWilly has a single-hand version and I believe Paul Southren has one of the hand-n-a-halfs. They both reported being pleasantly surprised at how well they cut.

King, Mike is correct as to my opinion of the Poitiers. It is a very handy cutter indeed. I am especially supprized how well it cuts with toward the tip. Aww heck here's a couple vids. ;D
Last fall.
Here's one when I first got it.
LOL, that's the old soundless camera, I still got that, know anyone needs a cheap camera?

I have the Pioters, my first next gen Albion. Ric was partially responsible, thanks man. Surprisingly forgiving on the cut. the tip is woth mentioning not so much for the "punch though the gaps in period armor" but rather for the (take a deep breath) the time I made a thrust on an already severed bottle (thus low to the stand) and clumsy ox (that's me) thrust into the cutting stand, tweaked my wrist, causing me to let go (I was and still am thrust deficient) the sword stuck and hung by the tip horizontally for a second before I retrieved it. "The blade?" you ask in horror. strait as an arrow. I'm sure the steel was fatigued somewhat. Kind of a sad story of unintended sword abuse but the way it took it.......

Thanks guys again very helpful,
Ric, if anything sold me on the type of sword, it was your cut on your second video at 25 seconds. That was impressive.

Yeah, Marty, I agree this is a very resilient sword, I've done some abuse as well.
King, I took another look at the Agincourt, very very nice! I'm a sucker the type.

At the risk of sounding like a fanboy, I hear you cannot go wrong with an Albion; I'm thinking of picking up one of the Squire Line swords myself.

I already own one Albion and absolutely love it.
If you are just interested in a cutting sword then there are cheaper options on the market, but for me the overall package of an Albion is worth the investment. They are absolutely beautiful swords.

Yeah I like the agincourt alot as well. And it was hard picking between that and the crecy...but I went with the XVIa blade (I generally like XVI and XVIII type blades most). One thing about cutting with XV blades is that hit placement matters quite a bit. I really like cutting with type XV swords...it gives you really good feedback on what you are doing.

I like the Crecy a lot, but I already have a Albion Squire, which looks almost identical to the Crecy (apart from being shorter) so I wanted something a little different.
Ive put my order in with Albion for the Agincourt ;D ;D

It's a beauty. Congratz! How does it cut? Surprisingly well, I have only had a very brief cutting session with it, but I have been impressed so far. I expected it to be a very unforgiving but it seems so long as you have reasonable technique it will cut well.

Your sword is very nice. I love my Mercenary, which is also a Type XVa. I think you will enjoy owning it. ;D
