Between Hanwei's hand and a half sword and William Marshall sword which one should I get? They are both $215. I almost sure that they both have peened tangs. The only thing I find unappealing about the hand and a half sword is that it has a hollow pommel, but Hanwei might have made changes and make them solid now but I am not sure.

What about the VA Practical arming sword for the same price as your Hanwei swords? According to reviews, the Atrim/VA will both handle and perform better. Alot of folks have them, but I know the SBG Store has free shipping in the USA. sbg-sword-store.sword-buyers-guide.com/valiant-armoury.htmlOtherwise, I like the look of the William Marshall.

The hand and a half is still hollow I believe. If it was that size and solid, it would ruin the balance of the blade and harmonics. The william marshall sword...hum yeah, I don´t care for it´s balance one bit. A hollow pommel can be fixed...well I would say easily enough, but that is only true because I have access to a blacksmith. The badly balanced marshall sword...well there isn´t much you can do to fix that. I would go with the hand and a half hands down. At least that one will act like a sword should.

Spend the extra money and get the Atrim/VA Long Sword for $239.99 Tid-bit of advice Crocket, I believe the forum members hate that...tis very annoying, and the people asking the questions should get a reasonable answer. Just for future references Personally, I would go for the Hanwie

Note taken, Poo. In all truth, I did think it sounded a bit like a commercial. Totally did not mean it that way. It was just my two cents.
I also edited it....I broke one of my own pet peeves in saying "spend a little extra". So my apologies to you, Alex.
I'd still suggest the Practical Arming. But that is based solely on reviews and personal taste.
I think, though, that Ric did a review on the Hanwei hand and a half and really liked it. I'll look for that link....
Thanks for the heads up, Poo.

Hugs all round.
I'd go the H&H. I have one and am happy with it. I will put a new pommel on it one day - It's huge (and hollow) but the guard is attractive.
I hear the Marshall doesn't cut real well with it's sexy fuller ridges. Pretty but not functional. Plus I HATE the pommel and guard on the Marshall. They are just icky, just not right. BTW the Marshall pommel was hollow too. I dunno about new stuff. But thats why the thing is claimed to be silly light but still handles poorly (by reports) and has a long POB.
The H&H cuts very nicely and is a killer thruster to boot. I can also vouch that they handle abuse well too.

alex, you should contact Hanwei and ask them about the pommel; whichever one rings true (solid) you should get that one. Personally, I like the look of the Marshall sword, always have- but after having read the reviews and seen some of the horrors, I would not get this sword.
You should check out the SBG Sword store link at the bottom; you can read the reviews of swords before you purchase and thereby making a better informed decision. Everyone's going on about the VA Practicals; I will be acquiring one shortly so I can see what the fuss is all about. You might want one too.

The H&H has a fairly proven track record amongst the various people who tried it here. Meanwhile, the marshal sword... not so much. I've handled both, and I would take the H&H in a hearbeat.
That being said, they are *very* different swords.
