I couldn't help but laugh... There's a guy in the end of Samurai X- Trust that uses a katana with a chain attached to the Kashira that has a wakizashi on the other end. Does he rape a lot of girls in the movie, cause that's what pops up in google.

Isn't the weapon a modified jitte/jutte, which he carries as a mark of his position as a law officer? I don't know if the version with a weighted chain is a recognized variant, or if the idea was invented for the films. Hell, it's probably a ninja weapon...LOL BTW- the actor is Shintaro Katsu, who played Zatoichi in the original 26 films in the series. He produced the Hanzo films himself. He's also the younger brother of Tomisaburo Wakayama, who played Ogami Ito in the Lone Wolf and Cub films. And yes, I have all of these on dvd The Hanzo films are extremely "incorrect" in all sorts of ways, and are really pretty second-rate as far as acting, plot, etc goes, but I rather enjoy them anyway. They're funny. But then, I like spaghetti westerns and bollywood too, so I think my taste in films is pretty suspect Cheers Marc E

I too am a huge fan of Kurosawa movies, but haven't been able to find to many of them. So far my favorite is certainly Yojinbo, but all of them are good.
Back on topic though, what are the Hanzo the Razor films about? Ihaven't heard of them before.

But I absolutely love that film. Terrence Hill was incredible.

Eh, I only really like Kurosawa films. Oh, I love Kurosawa, but there are times when I'm more in the mood for low culture As an aside, Kurosawa actually cast Shintaro Katsu as the lead in Kagemusha, but sacked him on the first day. The story goes that Katsu turned up with his own film crew, to record Kurosawa's directorial methods, and the great man freaked out. I'm glad, because Tatsuya Nakadai is very, very good in the role, better than I think Katsu would have been. Kagemusha and Ran are the only two of Kurosawa's jidaigeki films I don't have yet. Back on topic though, what are the Hanzo the Razor films about? Ihaven't heard of them before. Well, briefly, Hanzo is a law officer in Edo-period Japan. The plots always involve him opposing his corrupt and incompetent superiors and exposing crimes by corrupt officials. Same as a lot of western cop movies really... However, he uses a number of unorthodox techniques, many of them involving the use and abuse of his enormous schlong. Really, I'm not making this up! For more detail, good ol' Wikipedia has the juice- en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hanzo_the_Razor Interestingly, the films are based on another manga, Goyôkiba, written/drawn by Kazuo Koike, the same dude who made Lone Wolf and Cub. Not as succesful a transition to film, imho. Cheers Marc E
