A quick question before i get into this, polishing a katana is not the same as sharpening it correct? or is it just two terms meaning the same thing? so when it comes to the samurai shark i was browsing around the maintenance area of the site and found this post: www.sword-buyers-guide.com/i-hate-to-say-it.html anyone else have good results with this product specifically?

That will put a secondary bevel on your katana, you don't want that. I would ask Tom K.(ianflaer) for a link to his sharpening guide, or maybe someone else will post it.

Polishing and sharpening are not necessarily the same thing, but rather, one leads to the other. A japanese styled blade undergoes polish after being forged for a number of reasons, one of them being to sharpen. However, polish also solidifies geometry and exposes activities in the hamon.
Ken is correct, you do not want to use any product that will put a secondary bevel on your blade. The information contained in the link he proved will take time to perform but in the end you will have a blade that will be able to perform as it was intended.
Good luck
