Hand made swords has a bad record of poor quality, I would look elsewhere.

The SBG article doesn't explicitly state what kind of steel they are, and the TrueSwords link in that article says they're 1060 Carbon Steel with different hardnesses on the edge and back of blade, varying from 40 to 50.
If Paul recommends them...

I have one of the autographed 1060 'functional' Kill Bill swords from Hanzo Steel ( #86 of 150). They were selling SS versions as well as carbon steel ones. Although the coolness factor of this sword is WAY up there, the quality of the sword itself is quite poor, and I wouldn't recommend it unless you just want an autographed one like I did.

I have a "Bills sword" from global gear. Did a reveiw awile back, and still like it. The shipping puts it a little over the 300 mark, though. Heres a link to the reveiw. /index.cgi?board=swordreviews&action=display&thread=5991&page=1

If you don't plan on doing any cutting or practicing with it, you should be fine no matter which one you choose. I've dealt with handmadesword in the past- two kats, one was a Mas Bamboo and the other was one of their own cheap repro's I believe. You get what you pay for, you know?
The link Avery provided for the one he's got- it is one of the better looking ones I've seen on the market and if you're looking for something somewhat functional, I'd go with the Global Gear one.
