I want to pick one of these up. They claim it is 'functional' but i know the Practical series broadswords that are 'functional' have a dull edge and point, as they are aimed at re-enactment use mainly. I was wondering what kind if edge the Hanwei Claymore has because although it would mostly be a display piece, I think I would like to swat at a few light targets with it. Any input will be appreciated.

Hello Morpheus,
Look in the review index, there is a review of this sword in the review section. If I remember correctly, the edge is not razor sharp but good enough, maybe not for light targets thought...the guy doing the review (I'm sorry forgot his name for the moment) goes at a wooden shield with it with good results...
I'm interested myself -in the more or less near future- in one of those...

Thanks Reflingar. I had actually used the search feature and came up empty, except a few passing mentions. I didn't know the reviews were indexed. Great feature. I also checked out the Lowlander, which was my original first choice, but now i think I am definitely going with the Claymore, and put an edge on it myself.

I did a review on that piece a while back. I still love the sword. It's one of my favorite cutters. For $200 its a great deal
