Cutting off the ring finger is the most stupid thing I have ever heard. The ring finger and the finger above it are the ones that are most important in swordsmanship whether using a sword two handed or single handed and especially in japanese swordsmanship. Also pretty hard to handle shuriken or throwing knives in the traditional grip without your ring finger. Who comes up with this crap?

played and passed through the game twice! Fun game but kinda repetitive since all the missions are pretty much the same sort of thing. Go to this city, kill this guy.
The story was pretty neat though to say the least.
And in the game it states they have to cut off a finger (yes to show loyalty) but also because with the ring finger removed, the hidden blade can open properly without cutting off the finger (since it's already gone).
If you look closely while playing the game, when he uses the hidden blade, the blade protrudes from the fist where the missing finger is.

The story was pretty neat though to say the least. It was a pretty fun game-- the soundtrack was excellent, the graphics were good, and luckily, there will be a sequel. So far, the hints are that it will be somewhere in Italy. (I'm going to make a guess and say that it will be during the Italian Renaissance; much assassination and backstabbing, there .) --Edward P.S. Hoping they will release an official soundtrack on CD one day, but for now I'll do with the downloads .

The assassins story itself is based off of an actual organization from said time period. Oh and if you weren't being ignorant, you would have done some research and found out that Altair uses his left hand for the hidden blade and uses the sword with his right. And it's perfectly doable throwing a knife with your index, middle finger and thumb. Come to think of it, if you had even looked at the first post you would have noticed that both pictures posted show the blade on...OMG! THE LEFT HAND!

Yummy, I've gotta check these out! They're only conceptual drawings, but the photos suggest that the game will be placed in the davinci era.

Yeah, I enjoyed the trailer, from what I gather the game will be placed in a Davinci time period, the assassins will no longer cut off a finger to accommodate the blade and we will get wings.

Did anyone here ever play the old Thief games for PC? I *love* the old "Thief" games . I still play "Thief: Deadly Shadows" from time to time. There are a few fan sites up that *still* post fan missions; I've downloaded a few I have yet to play. --Edward

Out of the Thief games, I've only played Deadly Shadows. Which was indeed a very good "sneak-em-up". If you Like Stealth games, I can wholeheartedly recommend "The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay". Or better yet, the combined remake/sequel: "The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena" which is due for a release at the end of this month. They're set in the universe of the movies "Pitch Black" and "The Chronicles of Riddick" Sorry if I might come off as a salesman here, but these movies are on my personal Top 10 Movies of All Time list. And the Game is probably on my top 5.

Mehh, I don't like either of the riddick games. I would rather play any of the splinter cell series prior to Double agent or Metal gear solid 3/4.

Well chaos theory was the best of them all, pandora tomorrow was pretty good but once the games hit Double agent everything started south.

The Thief series was really the only stealth game I enjoyed. I remembered learning about the secret basketball court in one of the training missions and learning that if you threw a knocked out guard into water, he drowns! ;D

I did a quick search on custom jobs for exotic/unusual weapons and spring-extended knives. It brought me to this forum: sinza.forumotion.com/index.htmI haven't joined yet, but that might be a possible route to examine regarding getting a wrist-mounted Assassin's Creed knife. --Edward I looked around that site a bit, but it seems no one have yet been able to solve the problem. They've not been able to create a working mechanism, or a construction solid enough to take any abuse, i.e it's not "fully functional". I'll see if I can't make my own version of this blade, although it'll most likely be gravity-fed. My experience in this area is very limited, so I'll start there.

There's a few there that are decent, I don't know why none of them just buy this replica and examine it.
