I was snooping around Albions website, and NO I do not go there EVERY day (Sundays don't count). Anyway what do ya think? I may have to buy two, they will look really nice next to my clear plastic spatula of certain doom! (made by windlass). www.albion-swords.com/april-1-2009.htm

P.S. I'm a little dissapionted at the lack of i-pod dock, I know they have to be 'historically correct'' but still I want an i-pod dock, for the i-pod I don't have.

I don't know....When I first read the thread's title, I admit my interest was definitely peaked !! I mean, an ALBION sword, and transparent and for less than $300 !!! Yeah !! But, after looking at the photo that appears on the link, I saw that it isn't really as transparent as I'd like. So, I guess I'll just pass for now, at least until they've improved it. But, + 1 2 U for bringing this to my attention.

Actually I've preordered 17 of them some time ago... the 100,000,000 insurance per item was a real bugger...
Delivery was recently accomplished.
Jim, I'd like to point out that the photo on the Albion site is retouched so as to give an idea of the swords profile...
I've got 17 of these transparant buggers laying about the house... and I can't find a DAMN one of them...

Oh yeah, I got one of those pre-ordered. It really is quite a nice value for the money, although the $100,000,000.00 mandatory liability insurance is a bummer (always read the fine print!)
The polish is very nice, it's so well made, it seems to turn invisible when you put it ANYWHERE!
I can take a picture if you like.
Edit: hahah. Marc beat me to it.

Jim, I'd like to point out that the photo on the Albion site is retouched so as to give an idea of the swords profile... I hadn't really thought of that possibility !! That just may change things...I'll think a little more on it before making the leap. But..dang !!!...it's an Albion ! Can't really go wrong. And, if it's really transparent, I've got the perfect spot on my living room wall, just above the television. It would be great there, so when I'm enjoying watching my copy Reclaiming the Blade, when it gets here, I'll have something sword-related not to look at. OK, I will reconsider. Thanks, Marc EDIT.... Never mind !!!! I just paid attention to what you guys said about the insurance ...$100,000,000!!! $100,000,000 !!!! They've gotta be kidding !!! No, no. I already had a little problem with the aluminum blade thing, but decided to over look that as the blade is "sharper-than-a-razor-sharp edge", and the price IS nice. But, no I ain't gonna fork-out $100,000,000 just for insurance.

I dunno, I got one of the prototypes. I'm having a lot of trouble with edge alignment, but it goes through bottles like it's not even there.

I dunno, I got one of the prototypes. I'm having a lot of trouble with edge alignment, but it goes through bottles like it's not even there. Like they said, it's got a "sharper than a razor-sharp edge", so it should cut bottles very well. But, if you're having problems with edge alignment, it may indicate a problem in the construction of the grip. The grip might not be in line properly with the blade. That would be a big deal for you professional bottle cutter types. But not a big deal for me. My cutting philosophy parallels my shooting technique.... I "whack and pray". I'm just pleased when I hit the intended target. But, I've already decided against buying one of these in protest of their ridiculous insurance requirement.

who needs insurance? insurance is for the weak I agree with 100% Sotark. It's just the principle of the thing. And principle is.......well it must be important because a lot of impotant people are always using the word.

This sword is also a hot item at the myArmoury forums today. Evidently, Albion based this sword on an actual historical sword. A member at the "other forum" found a photo of the original at the website of the Rustkammer Museum in Dresden, where it is currently on display. I copied the photo and posted it below here. As can be seen, the Albion sword is an almost identical copy of the original. I'm still not going to buy one though, until they lower the insurance at least a little.

Yeah, the insurance is a semprini. On the upside, it takes up very little space so storage is no problem and it is easy to carry concealed for those "there can be only one" moments.

........ On the upside, it takes up very little space so storage is no problem and it is easy to carry concealed for those "there can be only one" moments. I don't know Rick...it looks to be a fairly large and heavy sword. Not the biggest, mind you. Not a bastard nor a two-hander. I have hidden some pretty large things in my clothing, but nothing that large!! Here are the Albion specs. SpecificationsOverall length: around 38.125" (96.8 cm) Blade length: around 31.5" (80 cm) Blade width: around 2.0625" (5.24 cm) CoG: around 4.5" (11.43 cm) CoP: around 21" (53.34 cm) Weight: around 2 lbs 10.4 oz (1.2 kilos) Or...are you implying that this Albion doesn't really exist and maybe it's all some kind of April Fool's Day joke?

..are you implying that this Albion doesn't reall exist and maybe it's all some kind of April Fool's Day joke? Mt. Olympus forbid! I'm simply saying it is an enigma, surrounded by mystery, wrapped in illusion.

My wife has been desperate for a "sorry about the testicle retrieval operation" present that she accidentally came across this and thought it perfect for my sword display and to show the true, non-painfull side to her affection.
She displayed it over my side of the bed ......... hhhmmmm ........ wonder why she kisses me and says "Goodnight my sweet little Damocles" ......... weird .........
........ *SLAP* ........... oooowwwwww
