See guys this is what I'm talking about, don't make me give you guys nonbinding warnings, it's the last thing I want to do. I'm going on record, right here and now, that I will slay ever single plastic bottle that I can from this day forth till the day I die... and never once shall I feel remorse or pity for them... all plastic bottles must be destroyed! They are a threat to our way of life... they want to splash you, your children... they want to liter your yard and your beach and your forests... they seek to ruin all that is sacrosanct within our society. They must be stooped. ;D

I'll have to get a picture of my "collection" milk, juicy juice, and water bottles. If I could get my kids to rinse out the milk jugs when they empty them I'd have a hole lot(7 gallons a week) . They get kinda nasty when they sit out all day. Ric, is that a pig mug on the table?...... Very NICE!!!

Wow, that's pretty impressive how many you guys all have. I mean, I could fill a large trash bag with water bottles each month, maybe a little less than that, and I thought that was a lot, but it sure doesn't seem to come close to what some of you guys have. Are all those bottles leftovers from just you or from your whole family?
And with all that mountain dew, how do you keep the sword from shaking in your hands?

All of my bottles are from personal comsumption... As for the Dew... man, I have drank so much Dew over the years that the sugar and caffine have NO effect on me whatsoever... except that if I DON'T keep some in my system, I get really cranky.

Sparky, that is indeed a pig mug, good eye. My good friend, Joe, gave that to me.
Eruialsul, I pilfer the recycle bins at work for a good part of my bottles, tho I do have a couple friends that give me theirs. I drink a bit of dasani and most of the gallon jugs I have to thank my wife's aversion to tap water for.

Um-mm, just a note - since I used to work a a water bottling plant (in the filling room and quality dept), most of you dasani's and aquafina's are actually just purified municipal water (about the same level of purification that comes out of your tap) what you might want to look for are the generic spring waters at your local grocery. You get better water at a lower price and the source spring is more likely to be within the region you live. Just thought you might like to know.

I used to see plastic beer bottles in Galveston, TX all the time. the trick is to live near a festival. most festivals don't allow glass bottles in for safety reasons so all the beer is in plastic. it's out there, you just have to find it.

Not the same level of purification that comes out of my tap, that's for sure. Tap water in Arizona is actually kinda funky. Here in Tucson it's okay, but if you let a glass or bottle of it sit for a while it gets kind of a milky after taste to it. Tap in Phoenix is even worse, you have to use a ton of toothpaste while brushing your teeth just to (try to) cover the taste, and the steam from a shower has a really strong calcium smell. Bad tap water + desert = we go through a ton of water bottles, so I really should start doing some cutting to help do my part to protect our homes from all the PVC invaders.
And gee, that's a lot of caffeine. I get terrible jitters after two cups of coffee, and mild hallucinations if I have any more than that.

Thanks, LP. I'm aware that I'm basically paying for a brand name, it's an indulgence I allow myself.

You're welcome. generic bottles cut just a easily as others but it's more gratifying to destroy a brand name. ;D

Buying bottled water is one of the BIGEST rip-offs I have ever seen... if you MUST do something, then get some kinda filter for your tap water... a LOT cheaper... less plastic waste. Bottled water even tends to cost more then my beloved Mt Dew! I'll never understand that. I can't wait for the 'bottled Air' to start selling... people will but it, of that I'm sure.

Nope, they package air in bags: www.hughesent.com/products/air.htm. My sister actually had a filter for her faucet for a while, but with all the replacement filters she had to buy it ended up being more expensive than buying bottled water, assuming you get the bottled water in bulk when it's on sale, and some brand or another is always on sale.

She would have to be changing out her filter a hell of a lot for it to be more expensive the bottled water...
