Well, wait time is generally a week when they are in stock. However, the first batch sold out very, very quickly. The second batch is just being delayed by customs, but should be here soonish.

If you are going to say that a sword is defective you damn sure better have evidence on hand to support your claim. Your above excuse is not good enough, you should always check your facts and have them on hand before you cast aspersions. The fact that you don't have the weapon in question and the fact that you don't actually know for sure that it was even defective in the first place is not grounds to make the kind of post you did. Think more carefully in future before you make such a post.

Albrecht is a good sword. More or less everybody is satisfied with it.

The Albrecht is my favorite Hanwei, tho be aware it doesn't come sharp enough to cut well. Here's what it can do when properly sharpened. I love the look of it. The only thing I'd change is make the pommel smaller and solid and have it properly sharpened by Hanwei.

Yeah I'm still pondering getting that hanwei sword and rehilting it. I really wish hanwei would do a better job with the edges though. As for sword options...the gen 2 lucerene and black prince make great bastard swords. Pretty good in one hand...lightning fast in two. Course being XVa they are a litte tricky to cut with .

okay, just to clear up the vernuiel question; I have NOT had any problems with mine. It's bashed cutting stands (hard, 1/8" thick plastic 2' by 4' tables) dozens of times with no ill effects. Durability is astounding, and edge retention is 100%. However, the point comes very dull, so it's not a stabber... What musical may be remembering was when the threaded tang loosened up. It's easy to fix, but I'd never used loctite before and did a bpretty bad job. It's not falling off, by any means, but there is a tiny bit of play. Just apply the loc-tite correctly , and you'll be fine. I hope this helps! P.S. I also recommend the VA Atrim series over anything else that has been mentioned. I own none of them, save the Vernuiel, but I've heard literally hundreds of good things about the VA Atrims, and not a single complaint. Sounds too good to be true? Well, it's true. ;D -Slayer

I have heard lots of good things about VA atrims but the hanwei is atleast 100 dolars cheaper which is important for a first sword... At least to me... And I've heard some not so good things about the tempering on the gen2 black prince

And I've heard some not so good things about the tempering on the gen2 black prince Which Hanwei is 100 bucks cheeper? The Bastered, the Albrecht? Both sell about 190, the VA long sword is only 50 more then that. That extra 50 buys a LOT more sword too, in my opinion. Also, you can get free shipping on the VA Longsword, save some more green.

Dragoon mentioned sharpness being an issue. If one wants the sword to arrive sharp, I'd go with one of the VA practicals. Or for cheaper fare, one of the Windlass models and use KOA or MRL's sharpening service, you get a good cutting edge albiet with a secondary bevel.

It should be noted that it is easier to smooth out a secondary bevel than to have to start sharpening completely from scratch if you have no experience.

Only 50 more? Where? I always see them at the 300+ mark.... The SBG store here has the VA Practical Longswords at 239 with free shipping... I think Swordnation is selling them around the same.

Only 50 more? Where? I always see them at the 300+ mark.... On a side note, where about in Orlando are you? Also, I've never seen them above 250 for the regular ones, though I believe I paid 260 something for my custom tuned one.
